I saw many people asking about the soft ELO reset, so I decided to show you guys the formula and how it would affect your ELO in season 2. This is pretty much Riot will use for a soft reset ELO change.

THIS IS THE SOFT RESET FORMULA y = 1200 + ( (X - 1200)/2)

For example:
Season 1 ELO = 1400 ---> (1400 - 1200)/2 = 100 ---> 1200+100 = NEW ELO
Season 1 ELO = 700 ---> (700-1200)/2 = - 250 ----> 1200 + (-250) = 950 NEW ELO

Cool thanks, fits exactly what riot employees used as their examples.

this was an example, they have stated people will be moved to milestones. This may not be exactly what happens.

Yes, Jozrael used it, but it was just an example. It won't actually be like this, but it'll be similar in workings. Pretty much if you have over 1200 ELO now, you'll probably have over 1200 after the reset, but just less. If you have less now, you'll have less after. Etc.

Yes, this is the average formula which we learned in grade 2. ie : 1400 + 1200/2 = 1300. No need to over complicate.

(Elo + 1200)/2= soft reset

Mind=Blown at 1400 + 600 = 1300.

Not necessarily actually. It could be a step-wise function.

It could look like this: 1400 and under --> 1200; 1401-1600 --> 1300; 1601-1900 --> 1500; 1901 and up -->1700. Riot hasn't released the formula or numbers, so we don't actually know what the soft reset will look like.
