Another thing to consider is the enemy tank line. Are you up against a Volibear/Mundo/Sej/Nasus with 5k hp? The Deathfire active hits for 15% of the target's max HP AND makes them take 20% more magic damage. It's a very solid item for killing tank lines. Also applies on hit effects like Ryalia's slow or spellvamp healing.

Nashor's should be a go to item on hybrid carries (Tristana, Ezreal, Varus, Teemo, Kog'Maw)
Deathfire Grasp should be built on burts champions (Ahri, Kassadin, Karthus, etc.)

Deathfire loses it's effectiveness if you don't have a burst to follow up on it.
Nashor's loses it's effectiveness if you rely on your skills.

Nashor's is also a niche item for champs that can utilize Lich Bane and Wit's End.

Try this out:
Next time you play Kog'Maw mid? (If you wanna be THAT GUY XD)
Build Nashor's Tooth, Wit's End, Runaan's Hurricane, Sorcerer's Shoes, Liandry's, and a situational sixth item.

The scaling he has on his skills plus the insane AS he can achieve, in exchange for sustain, can outdamage an AD Kog.

Then you shall see the power of Nashor's tooth >

(Nashor's is my favorite item, sue me)
