So I wanna try to make a glossary using commonly heard terms in League of Legends and gaming in general. If i'm missing any, please let me know and i'll include them in this post.


LoL - League of Legends
noob/newb/nub/n00b - common derogatory term for an unskilled player or someone perceived as such
GG - Good Game. some people think it means Get Good.
BG - Bad Game
SR - Summoner's Rift
TT- Twisted Treeline
FB - First Blood
ffs - For F****'s sake
IE - Infinity Edge
LW - Last Whisper
baron - Baron Nashor
B - Normally means "back", as in to retreat
care - Be careful, someone's missing
mia - Missing in Action. normally uttered whenever a champ has disappeared from sight.
re - "Never mind, the mia guy is back"
initiate - Initiating a fight by being the first to dive in. This is normally the job of a tank
tank - a class of character and/or build supposed to soak up damage for the team.
Tanky - have similar durability to a tank
Tanky DPS - a group of AD-oriented champions that have some innate tankiness
DPS - Damage per second, it's normally used for autoattacking champions
AD - Attack Damage. the more accurate definition when describing DPS champs. it powers up some champ abilities and autoattack damage
AP - Ability Power. often increases the abilities of mage champs.
Mage/Caster - A champ/build that deals its damage output more with abilities than autoattacks
Carry - a champion that is often the main source of damage for the team to assist the team to victory. Also usable in verb tense as taking the job of a carry
Support - a champ/build that focuses more on helping allies achieve certain ends instead of being an active damage-dealer
Stealth - turning invisible. Oracle's Elixir allows and wards give stealth detection
Jungler - a champ that gains ihis/her beginning experience killing the neutral creeps in the jungle.
Solo Lane - Mid Lane or more commonly, a sidelane that has to be held by one champion when a jungler is in the team
Gank - An ambush on a champion(s) using greater numbers,
oracle - Oracle's Elixir
Trin - Trinity Force
GLHF - Good Luck, Have Fun!
BR - Brazilian player.
drag - Dragon
DFG - Deathfire Grasp
CS - Creep Score, or how many minions you've managed to kill in the game. Neutral Creeps don't count towards CS
Leash - a technique used to draw aggro from a buff monster at the beginning of a jungle sequence. the Leasher hits the Buff Monster once and runs away while the jungler continues attacking the monster. THis is used so the jungler recieves less damage and improves the early survivability in the Jungle.
DoT - Damage over Time. Common DoT spells include Summoner Ignite, or various champion Poison abiliites
CV - the summoner spell Clairvoyance

Cait - Caitlyn
Blitz - Blitzcrank
Cass - Cassiopeia
Cho - Cho'Gath
Eve - Evelynn
GP - Gangplank
Heim/Heimy/Heimer - Heimerdinger
Jarv - Jarvan IV
Karth - Karthus
Kass - Kassadin
Kat - Katarina
Kenn - Kennen. not used that often.
Kog - Kog'Maw
Malph - Malphite
Malz - Malzahar
Yi - Master Yi
Mao/Tree - Maokai
MF - Miss Fortune. at least in this game it does. Otherwise it's Motherf***er
Morde - Mordekaiser
Morg - Morgana
Panth - Pantheon
Rene/Renek - Renekton
TF - Twisted Fate
Trynd - Tryndamere
Vlad - Vladimir
Ww - Warwick
Xin/XZ-Xin Zhao
Zil - Zilean

i like seeing this every month and under AD, u say that dps are AD but AP are just as big of dps. you make it sound like AD are the only dps. also forgetting the jungle stuff like blue and red and golems.

DFG - Deathfires Grasp
OP - overpowered
jungler- someone who kills neutral creeps
Gank - to suprise attack someone with overwhelming numbers

CS- creep score (everyone forgets this)
Leash - helping jungler by aggroing a monster and running.
