I've been looking around for a definition of zoning, but every time it's mentioned, the person doesn't bother to explain. Can someone help me out?

Found that one.

"Introduction to Roaming

Roaming is a new style of play that has emerged over the past few weeks in high level tournaments and ranked games. Roaming is basically allowing your team to have 3 solo lanes, with a jungler, 3 laning champions, and a roamer.

A Roamer is a champion that will move around the map from lane to lane and assist team members in getting kills or supporting them by allowing them to stay in lane longer."

Zoning is basically continually using spells/attacks/threat of attack from bush to make the enemy champions stay outside the "zone" where they can get EXP from minion deaths.
This will allow you to get an EXP advantage.

Generally means they won't be able to last-hit either, but some champions with last-hitting spells (Annie for instance) might be able to pop into range, throw a spell, and run back before you bushgank.

Zoning, forcing them out of XP range. Due to the removal of Denying this is the remaining major way to abuse lane control to weaken enemy carries

Roaming is ganking from level 1. They dont lane, just constantly gank.
