Hey all,

So I'm a fan of papercraft and I found a program that will take an OBJ model and give you the correct printout to make it! Its called Ultimate Papercraft 3D and its found here:

http://www.papercraft3d.com/upc/index.aspx

So using the LoL2Obj exporter found on this forum you can theoretically export any of the objects in LoL and build them yourself.

Unfortunately, I'm no good with 3D modeling and the models for the game have WAY too many faces/vertices to successfully make a print out. This is where I hope YOU come in. Anyone out there familiar with reducing polygon count?

who else wants a papercraft OP Purple Caster Minion?

Thatīs actually a very cool idea.
Im not familiar with 3D work at all, but if you dont get a usable answer from somebody else Ill take a look at it.

I'm also not very good with 3D, but I really hope you get some help with this. I would love to have some League papercraft on my desk.

YES! If you're able to get one of the models to a lower poly count please share the OBJ. I have some experience with the program and getting workable printouts.

I do some costuming over with a group called the 405th. They are a Halo based group and they use a program called pepakura to do exactly what you are proposing. You take an OBJ file and covert it into 2D space and then print and cut and paste. You can use pepakura to actually lower the polygon count, and define pieces and so on and so forth in the program itself.

HOWEVER!

There is copy right issues with this as the models are property of Riot. So to recreate them in another medium is very tricky. Im not sure what the rules and regulations are with them, but I know that you should probably ask a Riot Staff member for permission to modify their models. Just a precaution.

This all being said it is a viable idea and i have seen it turn out very very cool in the past. If we get the okay from the moderators/staff, then I would be more than willing to help turn the OBJ into papercraft files anyone can use.

If you do a direct import

It has waaaaaay too many polygons. I haven't used this program for awhile so I forgot how to reduce them x.x

You have to increase the angel that defines a "flat" surface and also dont do an Auto_Unfold. I would suggest a manual unfold with defining specific open and closed edges. Sure it will take a while but ultimately the outcome is a lot better as the pieces are designed to be people friendly. ^_^

Ok, well if anyone wants to go for a 9-page PCM without colors.

I can upload the file. XD
edit: working on the colors now actually x.x

Added colors. If anyone wants me to upload just ask. It will take along time though since I haven't changed around the polygons yet and it still takes up 9 pages.
