Unpacking and repacking in OSX gives the same result. All I am trying to do is change the game.cfg in 0.0.0.36 so that friendlies are 0 0 255 and enemies are 255 0 0, everything else stays the same. I got the .dds in 0.0.0.25 for the red minions works now without knowingly deviating from what I had done previously.
So you're saying that repacking only the minion files does not crash the game, but repacking game.cfg does crash it, correct? If that's the case, can you upload a copy of your customized game.cfg file?

If it crashes my game, then it will be much easier to determine the problem.

I have attached a .txt version of the .cfg. All I have done is change 4 color values.

Awesome, thanks.

I believe I've found the problem. The repacker is trying to store something in a space that's too small. It's only the 0.0.0.36 archive that's affected (due to the 150MB file that has to use that space). As a result it skips over that file, and the game crashes because it's not in the archive. I don't understand why this error never happened before though.

I've got a fix almost ready, but I want to double-check a few things first. If all goes well I'll upload it tomorrow.

For now, just avoid customizing the 0.0.0.36 archive.

Wow that was fast. Thanks for the work you put into this. As I do with all coders/hackers/security specialists/modders.... I thank you because you do it for the community who probably doesn't verbalize their gratitude often enough.

I've updated the download link. The bug should be fixed now.

I also added an error detector that will display a message and a line number for nearly all potential errors (so you can just copy and paste it here and I'll be able to determine the cause much easier).

RAF Tools v1.02 uploaded

  • Cleaned up some of the filefinder's text
  • The repacker will now list ALL missing files needed to repack, instead of just the first one it fails to find.
  • The repacker wasn't always deleting the half-repacked archive when an error occured (resulting in a faulty archive).

I've followed the readme provided in the zip folder. Unfortunately the custom skin doesn't load for me. Does this method not work anymore, or am I doing something wrong?

What I've done:

1. Navigated to lol_game_client
2. Placed the 3 files in the folder
3. Searched for character .dds file using filefinder.jar
4. Found the .dds file in 0.0.0.25
5. Unpacked above mentioned archive
6. Replaced .dds character file in the unpacked archive
7. Repacked file archive with custom skin and selected yes when prompted.

What I'm left with are the newly packed .raf and .raf.dat archive files, backup, DATA, LEVELS, and unpacked folders.

This method does work, and it definitely sounds like you did everything correct...

The DATA and LEVELS folders are used by the patcher only. Ignore them.

The backup folder contains the older archive (before you edited it)

The unpacked folder is where you replaced the original file with your own.

Two questions:
1 - Did you accidentally put it into the filearchives/0.0.0.25/DATA folder, instead of the filearchives/0.0.0.25/unpacked/DATA folder?
2 - Were you seeing the default skin ingame, or was it glitchy?

To answer your two questions...

1. I put the custom champ skin .dds file in the correct place...0.0.0.25/unpacked/DATA/Character/Tristana folder.

2. I was seeing the default skin ingame.

Is it possible that the skin file you added wasn't actually customized? Can you try another one?

(in fact, can you post a link of where you downloaded it?)

And just to be sure, you're trying this on a mac, right?
