I'm curious about how IP calculates.

I went through a game 5-1-14, not the best score, but someone who was 6-5-8 got more, nay, much more IP then I did in the final tally.

How the heck does it work?

Maybe they got more building kills, maybe they have a lower ELO than you so they got higher IP for winning, there are a lot of factors.

I think...
After 25 hours your next win gives you an additional +150ip.
If you win, you get about 80IP.
If you lose, you get about 50IP.
If you have had a 'no leave' streak, you get up to +15IP
If you have a Riotpoints bonus, you get about 100 more ip.
Then you can also get more IP for a winning streak!
That's about all i know, i think it's right.

So your looking at 80IP a lose, and 110 IP a win.. give or take a couple of ip.

Basically, everyone on the team will get the following:

Flat IP for winning or losing (more for winning obviously)
Bonus IP for winning quickly/losing slowly

Then individual player's IPs vary based on:

If you have played multiple consecutive games without leaving you get an increasing small bonus, capping around 12 IP
If it is your first win of the day (defined as 24 hours since you last got this bonus), you get a large bonus to your IP
If you have the IP boost enabled, you gain twice as much IP

The consecutive non-leaver IP bonus is actually capped at 23.

I think you got 14 for a lose, and 23 for a win (if you have the full no-leave bonus)

Figured it was infered but I will mention it anyways:

Your in game performance has NO bearing on the amount of IP or XP you gain (aside from the quick win/ slow loss which I have never received more then 19 IP for for a win at 18 minutes).

First win of the day is DOUBLE IP and XP

Boosts are also Double and they will indeed double your first win bonus.
