I usually play Soraka and I was just wondering what tier 3 runes to use on her. I have been looking at them and I was thinking ap for marks, cdr for glyph, and hp for seal.

Does anyone that mains Soraka, have any impute into the proper rune selection for her?

The crucial part of my Soka game is my flat hp quints.

Being able to take a few hits without being worried is essential for efficient Soka harassing and zoning.

If the enemy lane is harassment free, you need to the big dog harasser on lane.

If the enemy lane is harassment heavy, you need to be trading damage, with the knowledge that your heal and mana regen make it in your favor to whittle away at lane enemies.

That being said, trading hp is scary the less hp you have, so buffing it early game is a great way to ensure success.

That being said, I would avoid AP runes, but you can't go wrong with CDR and Health

The reason to avoid AP runes, is that the benefit will not be great enough early to offset the benefit you can get from anything else.

Marks: AP per 18
Seals: Dodge
Glyphs: CD per 18
Quintessences: Flat Health/Movement Speed/Gold per 10

Hmmm... If I were building a specialised rune page for her, I'd get flat HP quints, dodge seals and MR glyphs. IMO it doesn't matter what marks you get.

So MR for marks then?

I think these are fair (except for the gold per 10, I think they are terrible). Personally I use a more offensive soraka so i get something like this:

Marks: Magic pen/APxlvl (I told you im more offensive)
Seals: Dodge/Flat HP/HPxlvl
Glyphs: APxlvl
Quintessences: Flat Health/Movement Speed/Experience.

I dont think you need cooldown per level, Just get frozen heart and you are good to go. In fact i go heavy on DEFENSIVE masteries (3/17/10). But this is for my harassing Soraka in TT. You milage WILL vary as support soraka in SR, but the overall idea is the same.

I'm not really a mathcraft expert, so I don't know the efficiency of the runes in different slots, so I'm not sure how good MR is in the marks category.

My current Soka build is (note that I only have 1 rune set, period, but Soka is a common choice for me)

Marks: Armor Pen (not too useful for Soka, but I assume it helps your damage for hero harassing early, so not as useful as one might think)
Seal: Dodge Runes (rng causes rage in people. That being said, dodge is the only stat that is just as useful early as late game)
Glyphs: MR->18 (you don't want to be bursted down before you heal)
Quints: Flat HP

To be honest, your choices really aren't endall, as Soraka isn't a character that depends heavily on early game stats. The goal of my runes is to assist my harassing potential, while at the same time using overall good runes that I can use with a majority of my characters without being too gimped.

there is...2 ways to run soraka.

CDR FLAT

Pro = Great great harashment early game so you can keep your partner alive on those crucial moments and infuse for mana.

Con = Very VERY low survivability for yourself.

Build = Quin + Seal + Glyph = CDR Flat which gives you a total of 14.38 CDR with Mastery 9/0/21 thats 23.38. Marks is w.e you desire, i usually go Magic pen but you can go mana

Survival Mana.

Pro = what you make up for longer healings is well being able to heal longer. Infuse wont be used on yourself as often cause you need to fill your teammate or use it to silence and shut down caster and or interupt fiddle channeling etc etc. and your a tank early game.

Con = Early game..you will suffer actually depending how aggresive your partner/enemy are. You may regret not getting that extra 2 second cooldown off your healing to save your partner. and the mana dont REALLY take in effect till level 4~6 but can be resolved by getting clarity.

Build: Mark: Flat Mana regen, Seal: Mana Regen/Level Or Dodge/HP flat/Hp per level, Glyph: Mana Regen/Level Quin: Flat HP

Seals it depends if you wana spend alot or little, i personally go mana cause a good soraka is never in a middle of battle and is out of harms way in a bush till she need to pop out and heal and the occasional Q spam

About Cooldown runes... not really necesary. If you want cooldown there are a LOT of nice items for Soraka that provide cooldown.

- Frozen hearth
- Deathfire Grasp
- Spirit Visage
- Codex

On top of that you can get your masteries cooldowns. If you REALLY want cooldown from runes, i would suggest FLAT Glyph. GlyphxLvL cooldown are pretty crappy
