Her passive now is basically works similar to Annie's. If Annie's passive gives you bonus stun every 5 spells, Sona's passive gives you bonus effect after every 3 spells cast, and the bonus effect is activated using your normal attack instead of skill. The bonus depends on what aura is activated at that time.

In team fights, you'd want to retain the W aura (the healing one). So basically just use any other aura first before that W skill. For example, when the fight starts, use E, Q, then W. and just spam like there's no tomorrow. You don't have to bother with the passive bonus as it's not important in a 5v5 war.

But IMO, the most important part if you play Sona is how you position your ult right. Do it right, hit all 5 of enemy champions, and you'd have a high chance to win the fight.

sona's passive is really strong now, 20% dmg reduction being by far the strongest. maokai's ult does the same effect. she gets it every 3 spells.

All of sona's abilities require proper timing more than anything, especially with the new power chord mechanics.

Power chord does bonus magic damage on your next autoattack after 3 spells have been cast (usually changing auras but it also counts crescendo), as well as a bonus effect depending on what song you're currently playing. Hymn of Valor: Staccato doubles your next power chord's damage (don't underestimate this, it's more powerful than you think), Aria of Perseverance: Diminuendo decreases your target's total damage output for a time, and Song of Celerity: Tempo slows your target for a little (while song of celerity itself speeds up you and your allies, making for a very large net speed boost).

During phat team fights you'll mostly be swapping auras all the time, to spew out damage and healing as well as keep your team on top of the enemy. However, you won't want to be autoattacking, so as to make the most use of power chord. Every 3rd spell you'll want to be making use of power chord to some effect. You can shut down a carry for a short time with diminuendo or slow a fleeing enemy with tempo, but usually you'll want to be nuking some squishy with staccato. at lvl 18 a hymn of valor + staccato will do roughly 600 magic damage without any AP (modified by enemy mres of course), so don't underestimate your damage output.

Outside of teamfights, mostly use song of celerity to facilitate movement of your team, and use aria of perseverance whenever you or any nearby hero is low on health. Don't ever go off on your own.

Your ultimate is very simple. Point and click for mass stun. Just make sure to line it up correctly. It also does a not-insignificant amount of damage.
