I've been trying to get better with tristana and I've been met with good results but for some reason when i deal with nidalee (which so far has been solo mid in early laning stages) i either cant harass well enough to keep her from farming or i flat out get killed by her. it usually doesn't get better mid to late game because of her burst dmg and her ability to get away from me even with rocket jump. is nidalee just a good counter to trist or do i have to learn to play better against her. any tips, builds, etc. to deal with her would be appreciated. thanks

A Bad Idea

WATCH OUT FOR SPEARS!

Clump together with your minions to close in on her so she can't spear you, then land Explosive Shot on her when you have a chance. She will try to force you out of your minions by throwing a trap underneath you, in which case you back away behind them and wait for the trap to go off, then go back in. You don't want to be in open space because that makes you an open target for her spear. Always stand opposite of Nidalee and keep minions between yourself and her. If your minions are dying, run back early to your tower and wait for your next wave. If you're standing by your tower with no minions, keep your eyes open and never stop moving; she's trying to throw a spear at you from max range, and the less you move, the easier it is for her to hit you from a strange, unexpected angle. I've scored many spear kills on players with a single bar of health left who think they are safe standing behind their tower.

Keep weaving in and out, taking pot-shots when you can and dropping Explosive Shot on her whenever its available. Save Rocket Jumps for escaping, unless for whatever reason she decides to charge in at low life. Dealing constant damage to her will force her to spam her heal, which robs her of mana to use spears and traps, and once she loses those, she loses her staying power. Careful against a Nidalee with Clarify, as she can essentially lane FOREVER. Keep her well harassed; if she's healing, you're doing your job right.

BUT THEN AT LVL 6, THINGS CHANGE...

Once she gets Cougar Form, if she's been harassing you correctly, she's in position to kill you. Clumping with your minions becomes more dangerous, because she can shift->pounce->swipe without warning and eat a clean chunk of your health. Keep your Buster Shot handy and use it ONLY when you see her shift to Cougar Form. She will Pounce, you will Buster Shot, and if you did it fast enough, you just saved yourself from a whole bunch of damage. At this level your autoattack range should have increased substantially, so you can farm with a bit more safety as long as you stick behind your caster minions and always keep them between yourself and Nida. If she's clumping with her minions, you can use your increased range to harass her by killing minions next to her with the Explosive Shot passive. BE CAREFUL IF SHE HAS FLASH: If you're at around 50% health or less, she can Flash in and pounce you and potentially kill you from a GREAT distance away. Pay attention to what Summoner Spells she has before you zone in; a Nida with Clarity and Flash is a dangerous foe indeed.

It's tough to say, but you probably won't be able to get a kill on her 1v1, but if she's playing recklessly you MIGHT be able to Rocket Jump over her and Buster Shot her into your tower. A good Nida will never stray that close to your tower unless she's trying to finish you with a Javelin, and even then it's risky to push her in, unless you're certain it will kill her.

Play careful, keep your distance, love thy minions.

healing reduction > Nidalee.

In the early laning phase you need to land a nice damaging combo and harass with your longer range. When you do some damage, make sure to explosive shot or what not to put that debuff on. Either she wastes her mana and has a ****ty heal, or waits and is more vulnerable in the process.

Yeah nidalees heal is pretty stupid good and goes a long way to making laning against her so difficult... just keep an explosive shot debuff on her as much as you can (dont put yourself in danger to do this). Trying to have team mates gank her before she hits 6 and becomes Houdini can help and that will deny her some gold/ exp if you can kill her/ force her to blue pill.

There really are NO counters to Tristana other than CC. Nidalee is more challenging to solo against than some, and you aren't always able to get a kill on her, but she's still not really much of a threat.

First off, heed the advice in the second post. That's good info to be aware of. Second, be aware of the fact that you won't be able to kill a smart Nidalee, so if she seems smart; don't try. However, it IS entirely possible to prevent Nidalee from farming properly. In fact it is quite easy.

Before level 6 it's just a matter of avoiding the Javelin throw and getting off Explosive Shots/Auto-Attacks whenever possible. Nidalee can be intimidating to new players because of the high damage potential of her Javelin, but once you learn to avoid it you realize that she poses no threat at all before level 6 and you are free to harass at will. Yes, Nidalee can heal, which is why you won't really have much chance of taking her down enough to kill her, but you have the advantage when it comes to harassment and you CAN force her to leave the lane before you if you play smart. She'll run out of mana eventually after all.

After level 6 Nidalee becomes more dangerous, but potentially easier to harass as well. If she goes cougar-form to try and farm it's a simple matter to make her regret it with an auto-attack/explosive shot combo, and at that point you might actually be able to get a kill off by using a burst combo of all your skills + ignite. (Just a note, get ignite as Tristana. It completely transforms her early-game potential and practically guarantees kills in laning phase.)
WARNING: Do not EVER EVER try to Rocket Jump on top of ANYONE unless you are sure you can burst them down within seconds. That is practically the highest cause of early-game Tristana deaths among newbies. As long as Rocket Jump is ready to cast and you aren't stupidly far away from your tower, you will always be able to get away from Nidalee if she tries to make a kill.

Overall, it's mostly just a matter of learning to play Tristana properly. Once you do you'll find that you automatically understand how to deal with your opponent. The most important thing to remember when playing as Tristana in laning phase is to always keep minions between you and the enemy(unless of course they have left themselves vulnerable and you have an opportunity to strike).
