I keep trying to install the game but either the install shield freezes or I get an error message.

Unhandled Exception

Error Number: 0x80040708
Description: Unable to create the required engine components, check whether you have the appropriate privileges to create COM components. (0x80004005) Unspecified Error

Setup will now terminate

Anyone have any ideas?

Is your Windows up to date? If not, install all updates and then try to install LoL. Also try running the installer as an Administrator.

Do you have Administrator privileges?

Yea. I do. I've also tried running it from the Administrator account as well.

Put the windows cd in and repair. Thats an installshield problem, not a lol problem, methinks.

Edit: also try

I used bcdedit.exe /set nx OptOut to reset my settings then:

1. Click Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select System
4. Click the Advanced tab
5. In the Performance region select Settings
6. Click the Data Execute tab in the dialog box that opens
7. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select
8. Click Add.
9. The open dialog box opened. Browse to the LOL install file.
10. Click Open
11. Click Apply
12. Click Ok
13. Reboot

::sigh:: I figured it would be something like that. I don't have the CD anymore.

Alright, I tried adjusting the data execution prevention, but that also didn't work.

Guess I'm just gonna try to find that CD again. Thanks for the effort though I appreciate it.
