((Nah, Dragor can't cook anything much. When in the field, he either eats cold, pre-cooked food or food in hexpacks that heat/cook it automatically when opened.))

((@Necromonger: Doc M. couldn't cook to save his life, Noxian noble, and all that. That's actually one of the reason's he'd be here: Cheap food. The other: Looking for a group that's heading out of town.

@Everyone else: Why are you all adding your own paper to the pile? The poor man's gonna have one person per sheet of paper... Maokai's going to come kill us all, personally!

Post edited to remove a suggested fix for earlier ))

(( Eredale decides to join... because being a mercenary is his usual job, as the profile says. ))

The evening Kalamanda downtown was as crowdy as usual - these days, with city states quietly fighting over the little province, it has become a problem to not bruise into a Noxian or a Demacian guardsman either patrolling the city, or just striding through the street after a good sip off liquor. However, those were not of interest to Eredale, who headed towards his usual destination. The guards werent blind, nor were they deaf - of course they knew that there are more than a few dark places in the city... but after some "incidents" (arranged, of course), they decided that being blind is not that bad after all.

Pushing through the crowd, he finally arrived at his destination - it certainly didn't look like a place a League Summoner would visit in his spare time, but Eredale wasn't one of those who value the lack of dirt on their purple robes. He was a mercenary - and, quite a known one. Pulling the cloak closer to himself, he entered the tavern just as usual.

Just as he came in, a waitress (or, more like, a wench - this wasn't a Demacian elite restaraunt, after all) bumped into him by accident. The cloak's attention-diverting enchantment faded for a second, and she saw him. Instantly producing a fake smile, she tried to put her hand inside Eredale's cloak; but as a stray ray of light took out his face from under the cap, the girl took her hand away, as if she touched something really heated.

Coming up to the bartender, he lifted his cloak for a moment, and looked at the old man, making a slow jesture as a sign of greeting. The bartender was about to reach for a new bottle of cheap drink, but as he saw his guest, the hand stopped. The bartender nodded, and Eredale went further, to the corner when the usual shady crowd was already gathering. Quickly browsing through the job announcements, he skipped the largest papers - there's never an interesting job on those, mostly rich guys asking for a babysitter.

And finally, one of the smaller papers caught his eye - just a few words were already promising. Great Barrier, runes, a group... This - is what he lived for. Adventures, potential, mysteries! It was decided - whatever awaited him, he was -definitely- going to take part in this.

Entering the room for those offering a job, he noticed the unusually large crowd of people surrounding one of the tables so thick, that the person who sat there was concealed. "Ah, so I'm not the only one with a smell for a good adventure... very well then." - he thought to himself, approaching the table.

"If you would excuse me..." - Eredale slipped in-between the people who were waiting to get an approval. Finally, he saw the job offerer - it was an old man, seemingly worried about something happening to him. It looks like he wasn't used to places like this. However, a pretty thick pile of self-recommendations was already at his side, and he was looking through each of them in order.

"Pardon to interrupt your business, sir... but I would like to offer my service to you aswell. Here's my card." - upon saying those words, Eredale stretched out his hand from under the cloak, and a sheet of paper appeared on his hand. Putting it down on the table, he said: "Looking forward to working with you."

The elegant sheet of paper, having a slightly turquoise tint to it, was rounded with a black pattern, seemingly coming out from under an artist's hand. The card read:

"Greetings to you, who reads this text. If you hold this in your hands, then you must have
decided to lend the aid of a third party in your quest for whatever you may wish for. And I
assure you, that you have made the right choice.
My name is Eredale, and I am a known figure amongst both mercenary and summoner
alike. You may have heared of me before, as there literally wasn't a place I haven't been
to, but in case you didn't, you may want to know what skills may I offer.

- Classic Summoning. You may hire my services as a Summoner in a League of Legends match.
- Covert missions.
- Fighting. Ranging from non-magic to high-class magic warfare.
- Escorting. Ranging from expected rogue ambushes to unknown danger levels.
- Non-standard assignments. Includes craftsmanship orders and information gathering.

My quality of work and experience is one of the best on Valoran. Your money wouldn't go
to waste. With all that said, I'm looking forward to good work."

Avery slipped into the Rusty Tavern, a notebook in hand. It was a need that brought him here. He had planned to travel over the Great Barrier in order to go visit his parents near the south, towards Bandle City. He had gotten the letter not long ago that his mother had became ill with the Kumungu fever, while traveling with his father.

I need to reach her, whatever the cost.

Reaching Kalamandra however, was the easy part. From there, Avery planned to join a convoy going south. The next group out however, would in three days. By then his mother would be...

Avery glanced about the room anxiously, noticing an assortment of mages and warriors scribbling on paper.

Seems it's signup only.

He had heard about the old man's request for manpower. Avery was not going to wait for his mother to die. He was going to get over the Barrier at all costs. He turned his notebook foward, and tore a page out. He found a small quite table, off to the side of the tavern and took out an old pen.

Quote:
Name: Avery Alves

-I offer knowlege in about this region and of others.

-I am a Chronomancer.

-I am willing to what is necessary, and I will not stop.
Avery paused before writing the last line.

Quote:
-I do not ask anything for my services. I need to cross the Great Barrier to reach Piltover, for my own reasons. Once I have completed my duties, I will defect and continue my travels.
Avery folded the paper slowly, rolling it in his hand. He lifted himself up from the chair and approached the table, placing it off to the side of the old man, avoiding the man's gaze. Avery would not be caught with tears in his eyes.

"Thank you for your consideration."

Reiner was beggining to get distressed by the number of applicants for the new job. He knew that from here on he couldn't change what he had written on the paper and would have to show off his skills in a different fashion. He started to wonder, what made him unique in a place like this? Obviously he had been naive when assuming that his power to control darkness and cooking were going to give him a quick win. No, this situation needed to be handled with finesse and smarts. He glanced again at the board and smacked himslef in the face. A balance of techniques, medical skills "****!" he shouted aloud. Feeling slightly embarrased for his outburst and for his almost complete uniformity with the rest of the group he tried to think back to the days of his youth. "Yes, Yes I see it now."

[flashback start]
Reiner as a young boy in a boyscout troup. Medical Merit badge. He had been given a first aid kit and had been told to show how to fix a broken leg.
{two minutes later}
The "victim" is trapped and looking like a mummy under a shroud of gauze and tape. Something had gone wrong and his only escape now was to blame it on his partner.
[flashback end]

Reiner cringed at the memory, he had never gotten the medical merit badge. Yet there was still hope, something else he had learned in boyscouts, the ability to sleep at any time anywhere. Immediately seized by an uncontrollable sense of joy he set himself onto the table that was closest to where the old paranoid guy kept looking, introduced himself, and fell asleep.

Teleiros took a draw from his pipe, observing the chaotic crowd. "Just like insects" he thought, taking out a weathered piece of paper, abiding the old man's request, and leaned over it. In a few seconds, the piece was full of brown script.

He let out the smoke, mumbling something, and blew the piece of paper off his hand. It was lifted up by the coiling smoke, and carried as if by an unseen wind to the old man's table, depositing itself accurately in front of him.

He inhaled smoke again, awaiting patiently for the result.

-----------------------------

The piece of parchment looked time-worn and slightly musty, drenched with the herbal smell of the smoke. It read:

You go south, to lands uncharted, but not untreaded. To walk blind and pompous is to walk dead. A light step, a keen eye and knowledge of the desolate areas, you will need. And I hold them all.

You seek remedy for your pain? I'll brew it.
You seek solace from affliction? I'll craft it.
You seek shelter from danger? I'll cloak you.
You seek webs to trap your foes? I'll weave them.

Alchemy, Witchcraft, a guide in the twisted unknown, here are my offers. To heal or to cripple, both I can do.

Riches are for those who need them, I do not.
Choose wisely, old man. May your age clear your judgement.

The Swamp Doctor.
