Hey, I was thinking of picking up Alistar for 1350 instead of waiting for a 3150.

I was wondering if the best build is tank or carry?

If there is a better tanky carry that I can pick up , let me know thanks.

Ok, is there any kind of champ for 1350 that is slightly tankish but can carry pretty well?

Like poppy, but I don't want her =P

Being slightly tankish is the part of the definition of carry.

Maybe Tryndamere is more up your alley? I believe he can be classified as a carry.

I would have suggested Malphite, but he's 3150; he's probably the epitome of a tankish DPS type character and can be built towards either spectrum.

Other choices:

Nasus: More of an AoE, magic type tankish character. His ultimate can destroy groups.
Singed: More magic, more support, not as much DPS.

My suggestion is before buying a character, try them out first during a free week to see if you really like playing with them. My first character was Alistar and was well worth the 1350 IP I spent on him. I've had some buyer's remorse with my next couple champion purchases.

P.S. Prices based off of a Wiki site and should not be completely trusted.

I thought the definition of a carry was scaling really well at the end game.

Alistar has pretty bad DPS no matter what you do with him. Dont buy him and expect to get tons of kills. The best thing you can do as Alistar is feed your carry kills, tank for your team and initiate fights. If that doesnt sound interesting to you, Alistar is not your man (bull).

I build a DPS Alistar with pretty great success. People will be trying to focus down your carries and not notice that you are beating them senseless. My last couple Alistar games I ended the game with the most kills, even though I was feeding my carries. Your ult provides all the tanking capacity you need, and you have two CC abilities to also help mitigate damage.

A cooldown build is also viable to maximize your ability to stun and ult.
