(Insert item name here)(Insert item cost here)
Increases auto attack range by 100,
champions with 550 or more auto attack range
is not effected by this item, any ability that
grants auto attack range will nullify this items
range while ability is active(adc only)

is this a good idea?

Champions are balanced around their effective ranges. Shorter ranged carries are balanced that way because they tend to have more strengths in their kit than someone like caitlyn, who never has to be in range of anyone. Not to mention if the cutoff is 550 range, and the ADC tag means only characters classified as marksmen, this item is available for 6 champions.

And if you're suggesting an item that could even give melees increased attack range, that's a whole different can of worms, because

A) Animations would be super awkward for this item, and

B) Melees, much in the same way as ranged ADCs, are balanced around their effective ranges. Melee champions, on the whole, have better base stats than ranged champions, and their shorter range reflects that. And they tend to have more gap closers, which are designed to put champions in exactly the right spot to ruin an enemy champion's day.

So that, basically.

How is Tristana balanced around her range?

Tristana is broken for reasons besides her range, namely her immense self-peel. The reason she is so powerful right now is that she's had an extremely powerful kit for a long time, she was just unpopular because the meta favored early-mid game strategies, and her main strength is her phenomenal late game. Now that the meta's shifted to "protect the hypercarry" strategies, she's seeing more play and her numerous buffs over history are finally rearing their ugly head.

Riot is looking at her, though, and unless they pull another Lucian, she should be in a more reasonable spot in the near future.
