What's the difference between a "fghter" type champion from a "tank" type?

Tanks have higher base defensive stats and lower base offensive stat.

I always take it as a champ who can dish out a bit of damage but can also take some damage before fleeing. A champ who can enter battle and stay, rather than hit-and-run champ. Think Jax/Udyr/Corki. Weather they are classified as 'fighter' I don't know at the moment.

The only difference between carries and tanks atm are that real tanks cannot build to do adequate dps.

That is to say atm, carries with lifesteal out tank all tanks except Alistar(he's the only real tank that can initiate) even when EC is involved.

Cannot lifesteal while stunned/blinded/hurdling through the air.

In those situations, armor/MR/hp proves quite useful.
