What follows is a list of Community-Accepted Rules and Guidelines for determining action and governing how things should proceed within the forums. They may be discussed and changed at any time via RULE 11 below, but only if the proper procedures are followed by the parties seeking change.

Quote:
COMMUNITY RULES AND GUIDELINES
These Rules and Guidelines have been discussed and adopted by the NA League of Legends Official Roleplaying Forum Community, hereafter referred to as "the Community", in an effort to provide for the happiness and well-being of all who choose to play here. It is in a spirit of cooperation and mutual enjoyment that we do hereby create this list of edicts that shall govern the behavior of all members of this Community. Making a conscious decision to play here is to accept these community-created terms and conditions, in the interest of Community Spirit, togetherness, and the pursuit of happiness for all who call this place their home.

RULE 1:
The Official NA League of Legends Forum Terms of Service is to be followed at all times by all members of the community. Excessive use of profanity and disrespectful language will not be tolerated. This extends to any openly racist, discriminatory, or sexist comments directed at any persons on these Boards. Any links to pornographic material of any kind will be reported to the Forum Moderation Staff. Any threads above a PG-13 rating where players engage in sexual contact is also prohibited on these boards.

RULE 2:
Treat others the way you would wish to be treated yourself. Seek orderly resolution to problems, and be respectful to the community, and yourself, enough to excuse yourself from a discussion if you are getting too heated. Seek compromise to difficult topics, and work together to achieve peace.

RULE 3:
All new members should familiarize themselves with all the Sticky Threads at the top of the forum to better understand the format of the forums and how they are different from every other forum on the Boards. There are many guides and helpful links in the thread detailing a great many topics.

RULE 4:
If you have a question regarding a rule, a regulation, or any links listed in any thread, ask someone in an "Out-Of-Character" or "OOC Thread" to clarify your question for you. Assumptions on your part will likely lead to problems. Most of us do not bite, and are eager to help new individuals get started. Please do not ask these questions in RP Threads, as it causes disruptions.

RULE 5:
If you wish to roleplay as a Champion, read the "Revived Ask Champion Compendium" thread to learn how we handle such things, and how claims are made. Claims made outside the scope of this system are not valid, and will be dealt with by first politely reminding the offender of the rule in place with a link to the appropriate thread, followed by an attempt to close the thread through community downvoting should the need arise.

RULE 6:
Only one person may roleplay as a given champion at any point in time while on these boards. No duplicate champions are allowed in order to maintain the peace of the forums, and to prevent competitions and fighting between different portrayals. If you truly want to roleplay as a champion that is already taken, a Tumblr Blog is a very viable and rewarding alternative to the Official Forums, complete with its own talented and welcoming community.

RULE 7:
In the interest of fairness to all users, "The Rule of Two > Three" is in effect for all Champion Roleplayers. This means that no roleplayer is allowed to roleplay more than two champions at any given point in time, unless they meet a specific set of criteria that, under community discussed guidelines below, they will be allowed to run a third champion. This is to prevent hoarding of champions by single persons, as well as to allow the most individuals the chance to portray a champion while growing the community.

Requirements to Qualify for a Third Champion
  1. The Community believes the RPer is skilled enough in their portrayal of their other 2 champions.
  2. They are significantly active with their other 2 champions.
  3. They follow the rules and guidelines pertaining to posting time limits without issue on a regular basis.

  • If a roleplayer wishes to play another champion, and is already at the standard limit of two, they must relinquish one of their two held champions, thereby remaining at two total champions.
  • If a roleplayer wishes to play another champion, and is already at the extended limit of three, they must relinquish one of their three held champions, thereby remaining at three total champions.
  • A roleplayer is allowed to select someone other than themselves to take up the mantle of a champion they currently portray, so long as the recipient of the mantle does not go over the imposed "Rule of Two > Three" by obtaining the champion. This act may also be done if a person simply wishes to retire as a champion and not gain a new one in its place.
  • If a Champion Roleplayer goes above the limit of "two > three" champions, they must immediately seek to discard champions until they have reached the limit of two or three for their personal limit. They may hand them off to individuals they specify if they choose to do so, but cannot maintain control of more than two or three champions at any given time.
RULE 8:
If you wish to roleplay as a champion that is NOT currently taken, as per the list of available roles in the Ask Champion Compendium Thread, you are required to make a Smurf account, announce your interest in the role on that account in the Ask Champion Compendium Thread, and then make an Ask Thread for your champion.
  • A Smurf is an alternate account made with a different e-mail, for the sake of RPing the champion you wish to take up, before making the "Ask Thread".
  • A smurf should be something like "Ask Ezreal" or "Ask Explorer", something related to the champion. Or, change your summoner name with RP.
RULE 9:
Taking over a previously held champion thread is as follows...
  • To claim an old champion, there must be no activity by them in any thread for at least two weeks.
  • If they have been inactive for at least two weeks, make a post in their "Ask Thread" AND the Ask Champion Compendium stating your intention to take over the role.
  • If the current holder does not respond in any way within three days, you are able to take the role of that champion.
  • You should then go about creating a Smurf, an alternate account made with a different e-mail, for the sake of RPing the champion you wish to take up, before making the "Ask Thread".
  • A smurf should be something like "Ask Ezreal" or "Ask Explorer", something related to the champion. Or, change your summoner name with RP.
  • If a champion has had no activity within at least THREE weeks, you may create a new thread without posting your intent, but you still require a Smurf.
RULE 10:
Users who wish to roleplay a newly released or upcoming champion must wait for the Official Audition threads, which use the guidelines as stated here (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2584536) to determine who, out of all the applicants for the role, is best suited to portray the champion. This is to cut down on the massive influx of Ask Threads that once dominated the forums when a new champion was announced. An example of an audition thread can be found here (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4496963).

RULE 11:
Amendments to these rules, as well as additions to this list of rules are possible by first suggesting a proposed change to the rules within a designated OOC Thread of some kind. After discussion with the community, a thread with a Public Poll should be made in order to vote for the change or amendment to the rules. A time limit of one week should be allowed for maximum Community turnout. Voting multiple times, even on Smurfs, is strictly prohibited. The suggested rule or change must gain a 2/3rds majority in the votes or it will be dismissed. If the rule or change passes with a 2/3rds majority vote, after any issues with the poll have been ruled out, the change will then be adopted into the rules and treated as a part of this system.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We, the NA League of Legends Official Roleplaying Forum Community, in order to form a more unified and enjoyable roleplaying experience for all Users, regardless of skill or roleplaying duration, establish guidance, and provide for the defense of these rules and guidelines, do ordain and establish this Article of Rights and Terms for the Community, and all who shall take part in it, be it past, present, or future. Way we be fortunate and governed by these regulations, and prosper and grow in all means to a better end for all.

Kameil made a post suggesting to be more aggressive with inactive Champions... 2 Weeks and then the Champion is instantly available. I want to suggest this be the rule for claiming inactive Champions, but otherwise these look pretty solid.

Seriously, there are Champions like Xerath and Yi who did (and still do) this exact thing where someone posts intent and they come back and then go AFK again for two more weeks. No, now we should stop accepting it. Two Weeks, and if they aren't Away, they are instantly up for grabs by anyone with a Smurf.

EDIT: Ask The Widow suggested we make a rule to ensure OCs like Scar and FilFire are no longer acceptable and are directly breaking the rules. While we should create such a rule carefully, I agree we need to make this a priority.

Sounds good to me, I pretty much figured all this stuff was not needed to be written down, but apperently some people have no common sense.

And me breaking the rules is really going to make me feel bad.

Define "excessive use of profanity"

You are breaking that rule horribly on OOC chat with your rants, especially using Bold Text to circumvent the built-in filtration system.

Isn't it quite clear that a majority, and even if you insist that it was a slight majority, made it known that we don't mind AOD keeping his four champs? In that, the Rule of Two is still being hotly debated and frankly shouldn't be established quite yet.

Or at least to add an exception to the rule under the principle that those who have shown exceptional talent/ability in upholding their load are allowed more...

Only Xerath does this as Master Yi posts almost daily and is quite a good role-player who is VERY active.

It has been previously established that Fil is a Bastard (there I used your freakin insult for yourself). the pure fact of the matter is people like that just don't care about rules. As it is I barley do.

I was more addressing the FORMER Yi who stalled his own replacement for WEEKS despite how little he roleplayed at all.
