Victus

As he finishes bashing in the skull of his current opponent, Victus hears Elyssia calling out. His gaze following her gesture, Victus nods.

Gesturing towards his soldiers, he orders, "Finish off any stragglers. I'm going to see if I can help at all with the altar." Moving towards the altar, he positions himself so as to try and push it over or slide it out of the way, knowing that to try and break it with his mace would be more likely to just damage his weapon than anything else.

"Under the alter you say?" he said as he finished shattering yet another undead puppets skull. These things popped up like weeds but it seemed they were just as easy to dispose of. As Victus passed by Loki followed close behind making his way to the alter. "Victus! Elyssia! I should be able to lift the thing you two get ready to strike whatevers under it. Understood?"

As he reached the alter he stopped for a moment, pulled out a notebook and quickly swiped through the pages before closing it and just as swiftly as he produced it returned it to his coat. Against all rational thought, He took a deep breath, the stench of rot was almost enough to make you vomit but he needed to concentrate.

"Yidoh-Hiyolote!" As he spoke the ground beneath the alter began to quake.
"Get ready!" he said just before four pillars of stone began to raise the alter.

Victus

Victus grunts a confirmation at Loki's remark, the sound more akin to a piece of parchment ripping.

"Holfen, Kendra, flank the altar, quick!" He barks at his soldiers, readying his mace once more and bringing his sarcophagus to bear in front of him. "We need to be ready for whatever is down there."

Elyssia

Nodding her affirmation, Elyssia murmured an incantation and casted Faerie fire just as the altar started lifting off the ground. A eerie green fire enveloped and outlined the altar, creeping it's way downwards into whatever lay beneath it. ((Saint Elmo's fire, just a smidgen more unfriendly))

She then summoned a parrying dagger in her left hand and got into a battle stance, her face an emotionless mask that was drilled into most of her mother's tribe's youth for battle.

Ridley keeps an eye behind them to watch for sudden ambush as the altar is slowly raised, she keeps silent for once knowing that whatever is down there is powerful.

The shield wall proved successful in conjunction with Terra’s attack, bowling over several that had freshly raised from the grave and crippling a few. Terra would dispatch two of the fresher bodies that had been brought to life. Ridley’s own efforts would dispatch her two marks.

Victus’ men would begin to take care of those they injured or allowed to linger while Elyssia and Loki began to fiddle with the alter; which unfortunately proved to be a mistake.

As the alter began to lift the glow beneath it suddenly intensified and erupted into a violent flash of light. The explosion had occurred just beneath it with little delay. Those closest to it would find it difficult to avoid, even more so if they were directly in front of it. Failure to back away could result in nasty surprises. The alter was propelled up, striking the ceiling and then crashing down and taking out one of Victus' undead cohorts.

A mummy like entity that crackled with a raw power that emitted a violet light rose up the stair case. His body had been dyed a dark purple here and there where one could see centuries old flesh. Even his wrappings had been dyed a similar color. If it wasn't apparent, this entity was the one controlling the undead and had long since succumbed to the Void's influence.

"FoOLS. TtHOoSe wHo DiSTuRb tHiS tOmB sHaLl JOiN tHe RaNks of oUr LEgIoN!" His raspy voice resonated with a powerful echo. As he rose fully to the stop of the stairs his body seemed to be protected by a layer of what could only be described as a violet like sand that circled his form.

Trailing behind him but significantly slowed due to Elyssia's efforts were two mummies that were formidable in size and seemed to be outfitted with a set of gauntlets strapped with three blades on the end.

Tekun in the meanwhile aided in finishing off the stragglers but upon seeing the big threat approached with weapon ready.

(( Elyssia didn't cast Decreptify on them yet, she casted Faerie fire which would just light them up like Christmas trees. Little to no harm done to their essence though, just enough to be uncomfortable.))

Elyssia

Caught unprepared for the blast, Elyssia was knocked over as the blast passed through her. Instinctively, she curled into a back roll that was drilled into her after being knocked flat time and time again by her tribal mentors. She sprang back up, slightly disoriented by the blast.

Catching sight of the trio emerge from where the altar used to be, Elyssia hesitated and took a few paces back to put more distance between them. Her mind raced as it tried to come up with things that she could use to take them down.

'Chains then close combat? Ill-advised. Best to close in after someone else engages them.'

Crux stood a bit away, trying to get the undead bits of flesh off of her claws. Apparently at some point the undead would stop if one hit them enough times.

That’ll come in handy when I’m back home, Crux thought to herself. But it wasn’t all there was to this battle, as she kept a wary eye on the altar as Loki and Elyssia approached it.

Unfortunately, she still wasn’t too prepared when the altar exploded, and only instinct kept her from ending up like one of Victus’ soldiers. When the dust settled she looked up at the figure approaching, in all his purple glory.

She looked at the approaching enemy, trying to gauge how strong they were, though it was obvious at a glance these guys were on a different level from the grunts up until now. The guys in the back were big, but they also looked pretty slow with those weapons of theirs. The raspy guy up in front looked pretty intimidating, but for some reason she got the feeling that there was even worse up ahead.

Well, whatever, she chided herself. Deal with what you can. Don’t worry about anything else. That’s all you can do.

“So I can probably distract one of the big guys in the back. Maybe both if I’m unlucky, which I am,” Crux said out loud. “But anyone know how to deal with the purple glowing guy up front?”

Victus

Victus is knocked back by the explosion, his armour dented by the force. As he rises back to his feet he notices Holfen's skull rolling towards him.

"Don't worry about me m'lord, I'll be fit as a fiddle soon as you can patch up me bones. Focus on the big buggers." Holfen's skull croaks, the jaw's movement causing it to roll around on the floor a bit.

Victus sighs in response to his undead soldier's complete disregard for his body's damage. Turning towards the new threat Victus sizes them up.

'Dani,'
He thinks to his wife. 'We might be needing your help down here.' Turning towards his two last soldiers he shouts, "Michelle, Kendra, slow 'em down. Focus on the bodyguards. Aim for limbs." Victus, meanwhile, drops to one knee, bearing his sarcophagus before him as the nearby corpses appear to deflate, their skeletons being dissolved and sucked into the dark interior of the worn stone coffin.

"What the-" he said as the blast caught him off guard by the blinding light. This wasn't good, not only was he caught but both Victus and his subordinate were hit by the blast. 'Damn, I should have been more prepared. Of course there would be a trap under the damn thing.' The force of the blast was enough to knock him off the ground a few feet though he managed to keep himself stable. As he touched down his feet kicked up dust around him as he tried to keep his balance.Once he was firmly on the ground, he pinched the bridge of his nose. 'Damn,' he thought in muttered conversation with himself 'there goes my dark vision.' Though by the looks of it the creature that had decided to rise came with a convenient night light, so the damage wasn't too bad.

"Elyssia, Victus, you two still with us?" he said as he finally took in the full scope of things. 'So it's safe to assume that this... thing is responsible for the undead uprising.' He unlatched his slab of a weapon from his back and began to, as quickly as possible, asses the situation with the new enemies. The two big mummies seemed to be wearing some sort of claw like weapon, brutes no doubt but he couldn't help but think that there was more to these guys than just raw strength. Weapons like those were special, after all in a novice fight between a weapon like that and say, a sword or lance, the advantage would fall on the weapon with the greater reach. It makes sense, however as soon as the opponent gets into a sword or lances dead zone, the advantage swings the other way. Which means if these guys get to close to someone they could cause serious damage. And if it wasn't bad enough there was the light show in the middle.

The third mummy looked to be wrapped in some kind of sand, though none that Loki had ever seen before. If it were a battle of straight magic, it would be a simple matter of whether or not his control over earth magic was better than that of the undeads and brute forcing his control over the sand. However the violet hue of the sand meant that it was most likely some form of either void magic or taint and contact with either of those would be highly dangerous. If he had to make an educated guess on its function, he would have to assume that the sand would act as a free flowing barrier. That is to say that should someone attack the mummy there is a high chance that their attack would be blocked by the shifting sand. However that isn't to say that defense is it's only purpose. One also has to take in the possibility that the sand could also have offensive properties. This of course was all conjecture, however it seemed that the theory was about to be put to the test.

Loki turned his head to see his the silhouette of his fellow councilor move up and prepare for combat. A smirk rose on his face.

"Seems like you're done with the small fries," he said as his voice turned into a whispering tone as Tekun moved closer. "There seem to be two ways I can see of dealing with this, either two teams of 3-4 take on each of the body guards while you work on Mr. Lightbright, or we could each take a body guard and then gang up on the third. Of course this is just my thoughts it's your call."
