I just found out that Dota 2's Equivalent of LOL world championships prize pool just reached 5 million and rising, this got me wondering how much season 4 championships for LOL is going to be.
If you didnt know already, Dota 2's prize pool is accumulated by players buying Dota 2 compendium which is a pack of rewards that cost 10 buck and every 10 bucks spend to purchased, 2.50 dollar is contributed to the prize pool. While i dont know how riot comes up with their prize pool, I really want Riot to outdo Dota 2 in prize pool but i highly doubt it due to the way Dota 2's Prize pool structuring .

why would you care if riot out does Dota 2's prize pool or not? Fanboy-ism? Or some other reason I'm not sure about?

Valve only put in 1.6mil and the rest has been raised by the fans. It's almost $5.4mil now.

This. Why does it even matter?

LoL already beats DOTA2 in terms of viewership.
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/esports/esports-editorial/one-world-championship-32-million-viewers

League hit 32 Million for the Season 3 Championship.

Valve's The International 2013 Dota 2 Championships's numbers was at 1 million.

DOTA2's numbers are just a drop in the bucket.

Well, Dota 2's prize pool is accumulated from the players, and the prize pool is freaking huge!
I guess i am LOL fanboy thats why subliminally i want LOL to do better.

Honestly at this point, doing the same thing as they are would simply be a lose lose, if Riot were to open it up and let players submit money, it would the community say that Riot is just being cheap and greedy. If they don't, it will still have them being called cheap and greedy for now going above DoTA, and if they do out of their own pocket, they will be called jerks for showing others up. Literally no way that Riot can win this one.

And if they do nothing they're called cheap as well.

So what? If Riot cared, they would increase the prize pool. They don't.

OP, you should watch TI4.

Last year TI3 was, sadly, infinitely more exciting and hype than the entirety of worlds for season 3.

the problem is 32 million viewers number just come from Riot a$$ while dota number is verified by many third party program.
