You know, I appreciate the reply from a red.

But with the part about unable to show a reason, vBulliten is more than capable of allowing bold text and post editing to show

[THIS USER HAS BEEN BANNED] [REASON]

Enough about the community beta, this was the original forums, why are you guys enforcing leddit 2.0 so much, ugh.

Was i given a reason why i was banned? Nope. (Unless you count "Violation of a 200 paragraph essay" a reason)
I'd rather do this in private, but since you're curious, I'll make it clear.

You posted this..... [WARNING: Racist comments]

I think you were attempting to quote someone from a game you played in, but you failed to make that obvious, and were justly penalized. In the future we'll definitely let you know why we take action against your content, but it might work better if you just avoid posting **** like that.

Hey everyone, thank you for all the passion on this subject. I wanted to pop in to talk to you about how we're currently moderating these forums, and how our approach will be changing in the future.

Currently, the moderators we use have strict instructions to only touch the worst of the worst in the official forums. Their purpose is to rid these forums of the content that we don't want living in the forums. Examples of this this is porn, malicious software, keyloggers, spam, racism, posts about Teemo, you get the point. They don't delete posts for the use of profanity, nor will they interrupt heated arguments. Do they mess up and overstep occasionally? Yes. Every once in a while they go ham, and when they do we work with them to prevent it from happening again. Unfortunately there's never been a system that makes it possible to share why we've taken a moderation action with individuals, and developing such a system within our current platform would take an insane amount of time. For this reason, I completely understand why you have strong feelings on this subject.

Our approach for the future will be different, and much more transparent. First, there will be super clear rules that will apply unilaterally to all communities within the new boards. These rules will be easy to find, and require everyone to read them before making their first post. In addition to the rules, we will be working with each community to create guidelines that will help create and maintain a unique culture in each sub-community. These guidelines will help guide moderation decisions, and should be enforced by everyone who uses the boards (via upvoting or downvoting).

We've created some amazing moderation tools that will make moderation a lot more transparent. For every action that we take, there will be notifications to inform those who posted the content with the action taken, and why we took it. We're still a little bit out from fully unveiling that functionality, but there's an active discussion going over at the Community Beta boards that I plan to keep updated as progress happens. If you're interested in this topic, please head over and contribute!
1) If we're talking about the moderation future of these forums, why do we have to go to the Community Beta to discuss it? You're here now so why can't we chat a bit?

2) Have you considered making some of the players that post regularly and show responsibility moderators in a form of player mods? It would guarantee that the moderators would be people that understand and know these forums and are able to connect with the posters. I remember another game had forums with forum mods and it was highly successful from a frequent poster's point of view.

3) Can we have mods post lock messages like "locked for spam" to better communicate with players?

If I saw this bad post I'd ban too.

I mean really, people have some sense when you lay down your posts.

He did not fail to make it obvious, I could clearly tell he wasn't the one that said that.
