Land your Q's, spam E.

Besides that, try to predict which way people will face when you ult, and for **** sake learn good positioning.

Don't be afraid to all in at level 2 (sounds typical) just make sure you hit your Q then spam your E..usually gets me at least a flash. Although you are vulnerable to ganks pre-6, once you hit 6 you can play a bit more aggressive, and possibly 2v1 the enemy mid/jungler.

All and all just don't be afraid to go in, and remember you have the highest dps in the game..use it wisely. If you were looking for builds just look at the items or a website to see a decent build path..I've found it much better to make your own.

Buildwise:

Go defensive. Masteries should be 21/9/0 or 21/0/9 as usual but aim for defensive runes (armor, mr, Mpen and quints of choice). Cassiopeia is relatively lower-mid ranged for a mage and has low defenses to boost and no mobility so you need defense. Good items include Rylai's, Zhonya's, Abyssal, Haunting Guise, etc. Generally, up your offense but offset that with some defense. Cass does great damage even with less damage built so take advantage of that and up your defense. Can't be emphasized enough! Glass Cannon Cass is awesome but incredibly difficult to pull off and even more situational.

Playwise:

Laning: Be aggressive. Be ready to all in at lvls 2 or 3. If you successfully get a kill, you can max your E first and output some amazing DPS. Otherwise, max your Q and poke out your enemy hard; push them out of lane and deal a lot of damage. Ward excessively; Cass is one of those champs who can benefit a lot form warding both sides of mid lane just for the extra security. Given her vulnerability, it's incredibly important.

Mid game: Your W creates a zone of safety for your teammates that enemies will generally avoid. Take advantage of that and limit enemy mobility in fights; you can't expect your W to do much damage (unless as a followup to your ult). So try and maximize its utility instead. Otherwise, practice landing your Q's and you'll be fine. Timing your ultimate requires some finesse but my recommendation is that generally, it's best used defensively; it's Cass's only reliable defense skill so, if used well, it can burst our a high threat target (ASSASSINS!). It has a LOT of offensive power if you trap 2-3 but that can be difficult so only use it if you're certain or if you need to defend yourself.

Late game: teamfights are that much more common now and your positioning is incredibly important. One misstep and you'll drop dead. No matter your build. Try and take advantage of your Q's mid-high range and don't use your E unless you got peel all around you. Otherwise, you're still generating a ton of threat and you can help push lanes pretty quickly so take advantage of that.

Practice above all else. Land your Q's consistently and master positioning and you'll have most of Cass in the bag.
