Hey Summoners,

With every new patch comes the possibility that some players may experience issues properly patching correctly. There are two main errors that players with patching issues encounter:

Launcher/Patcher doesn't appear, or disappears after you press "PLAY"

This issue is usually called by some sort of corruption with the download of the patch itself or it failed to properly self-patch. In some other instances, it may be due to some issues with the configuration of your computer system's permissions which means it cannot properly save the files in the correct location. Many of these types of issues can be resolved by completing the steps in the following Knowledge Base Article, found here:

https://riotgames.zendesk.com/entries/28732434-Patching-Issues/

Patcher does not patch past 33%, Patcher fails at 99%, Patchers shows negative time remaining, or a general "Unspecified Error has occurred" message

These errors are often connection related. Either your computer is unable to maintain a stable connection, or a 3rd party security program is blocking League of Legends from properly patching. We are currently working with AVG, Norton, and other anti-virus companies to get League of Legends whitelisted with their service. Whitelisting essentially means that these anti-virus programs would authorize League of Legends being downloaded to your computer. On occasion, strict anti-virus filters will incorrectly flag files during patching and block them from downloading. With whitelisting we hope to prevent that from happening in the future.

Even though you may have set specific exceptions in place before for your security program, League of Legends has gone through a major update. Therefore, your security program may recognize the old version of League of Legends, but not the new version. Due to this, many of these errors can be resolved by following the troubleshooting steps of the following Knowledge Base Article:
