I have a 15" mid 2010 Macbook Pro and have been playing League of Legends for a few weeks now. Less than a month, actually. Everything has been running smoothly, until recently. After the Season 4 patch, I frequently find my client crashing mid game and would have to reconnect, ruining my gaming experience.

I have tried every available option at my disposal to remedy the situation, from clearing and optimising my Macbook, running every diagnostic possible, including the use of OnyX for Mac. After which, I've also repeatedly tried repairing my LoL client, outright deleting and reinstalling the client itself when the repairs failed to remedy the problem. I've also been restarting the program, and / or the laptop itself after every crash, monitoring for memory leaks and what not, to no avail.

This has been a most frustrating experience on my end. A good friend and I were considering purchasing more Riot Points, especially considering the bonus RP given last week, but this harrowing experience has put us off, to say the least. To make matters worse, despite my best efforts to stay in the game (Co-op vs Beginner Bots), my leaver level has been continuously rising to the point of my account getting a one day suspension.

I've obtained the necessary files, though I do not know how to generate a DxDiag report on Mac, nor does Mavericks allow the saving of system reports in rich text format (unless I'm missing a step, please let me know). These, and most especially the r3d logs (numerous fails listed in every game), show how much we're struggling to enjoy League of Legends. I can provide them here if you feel they're necessary.

I've submitted these into a support ticket, but it's two weeks now, and my crash issues remain the same. Here's the Technical Support Specialist's response, and my response as to all the other fixes I've tried. Anyone got any more suggestions?

Thank you for contacting us. My name is Riot Dita, I'm a Technical Support Specialist here at Riot Games. I'm sorry to hear that you're crashing out of your games, but I'm here to help stop that from happening again. Please let me know if you have any objections to switching support agents.

Occasionally the problem is caused by a corrupt file. This is especially true if your problem emerged after a recent patch or re-install. To run the repair function simply open the game and click the gear button at the top of the first window that opens. This will open a menu allowing you to repair. Depending on the speed of your computer and the amount of corruption this could take 5 - 30 minutes.

Here are a few other things I would like you to try that may solve this problem:

1) Run a Software Update-
You can find out how to run Software Update in the article below:
https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23240583

2) Switch to a Public DNS-
http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23294862-Mac-Changing-to-Public-DNS-Servers

3) Enable Cookies in Safari-
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Privacy.
In the “Block cookies” section, please set it to "Never"

4) Ensure League of Legends has Administrator Priveleges-
https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23240853

If you find that your issue persists after running the following steps, please send me the following logs.
1) System Report- https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23242306
2) Network Analysis -http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/20103436
3) Process List- http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23258202

Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!

I have already tried the following as per your / forum suggestions / standard troubleshooting.

1) Re-installed the game twice to no effect (three installations total). Repaired the installation every time after verifying that re-install has had no effect (three repairs total).

2) Problem does not occur at startup or patching. The game crashes randomly in-game. Still, switched to a public DNS as instructed.

3) All my software are completely updated. I download them as they become available. Opened the Software Update option to verify that the system is fully updated at the time of writing.

4) Never blocked cookies. Opened Safari settings to verify at the time of writing.

5) Running the game under an Administrator account. Verified that the application has administrator privileges at the time of writing.

6) Performed three passes of Onyx for OS clean up and maintenance, and ensured that the system has at least 20% free storage.

7) Ran EtreCheck and deleted all startup items, as well as all third party applications with the exception of Diablo 3, Hearthstone, Flash and Java.

8) Booted Apple Hardware test and made two quick passes, and one final long pass to check for any hardware faults and the system has found none.

9) Downloaded gfxCardStatus to ensure that the system uses the Discrete chipset instead of the Integrated one when running LoL.

So far, none of these have resolved or have in any way reduced the amount of random crashing I'm having with LoL. This incident is truly puzzling as Diablo 3, though more graphically intensive, actually runs smoother on my system at higher video options than LoL does even at low settings.

Hmm. This is interesting because there is currently a huge problem going around for both Windows and Mac users that is causing people to crash right after champion select but before the game starts. Your problem is at some point in the middle of the game, so I'm not sure if its related to that issue but I'll give you a link anyway:
http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3944677
Maybe once that gets fixed it will help out your issue. I wish I had more advice, but I'm not really sure what to say, it seems like you have tried everything I can think of. I can give you some insight about the support tickets though..

Did they stop responding to your support ticket after that second response by you? They should keep it going until they come to a conclusion (I was also in a long dragged out conversation with Riot Dita about another issue). I basically had to go through the semantics of providing text file after text file just to start getting somewhat real answers. Its clear that you're working hard to play the game and your posts have everything thought out, you definitely deserve the support needed to play, they should keep responding to you if you try to continue the ticket.

You are completely correct about saving system reports in rich text format on Mavericks by the way. It is not possible and Riot's guide on the issue is definitely outdated. I already told them that it needs to be updated in my ticket as well, but I see that went ignored.

I would like to add that LoL is a really fun game and its worth playing, but the company that makes it on the other hand... Basically Riot's support for those of us on Mac just isn't that great. We only have one Riot employee who looks after us in these forums (and sometimes he goes missing). In general, this Mac client is not optimized very well at all. Every single person I have talked to who plays LoL on Mac can get better FPS and performance by using bootcamp to switch to a Windows operating system. With the same specs they can get better power out of the Windows client. This is why Diablo 3 runs much better on your computer than LoL even though its much simpler. Maybe you could try using bootcamp yourself if you have a Windows disc.

Hahaha! You sir have captured exactly how I feel right now, about LoL, it's current state on Mac, and Riot, all in two short sentences

And thanks for your link to the other thread; am reading up on it now, see what new trick I can find.

Regarding the support ticket, well, it's really taking a while. I guess I'm kinda spoiled by other companies where two business days for a reply was kinda standard, but as another forum poster has pointed out, we've really no choice at the moment. I must say though, it did turn me off a bit when Dita asked for files I've already attached to the ticket. This makes me wonder if they actually read our posts or just skim through it and copy+paste a canned response. I know it's a bit of an unfair comparison, but Apple, for example, responds in a personalised way, and still sends you an e-mail for feedback after they've resolved your problems, just to make sure that everything is a-ok, even if you're just disputing $0.99. Hats off to them in that regard

As for trying Bootcamp, I've actually given that option, and Wine, some serious thought. I miss Yasuo. So much. But for the same amount of money, it's currently a war between getting Windows 7 just for LoL versus buying Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero *and* Bravely Default instead. Yes, my love for Yasuo weighs one end of that bargain heavily lol.

Yea, it actually takes them quite a bit of time to respond. When I made a ticket about another issue one of their responses took six days. Also I had the same frustrating experience, it really sucks when you try to be as through as possible in your first request to give them info, and then they ask you for the same info again, as if they didn't read it -_____- . I'm pretty sure that responses are mostly automated until you get to a certain point, which is pretty lame. If you are persistent they will be less automated I think.

Yea, Windows OS discs can be about as much or even more expensive than a whole other game, and theres no guarantee that it would fix the problem either :/

Well I hope you find some answers to your issue. If I find a post going around that has a similar problem of crashing in the middle of a game on the Mac client I'll post it in here.

Hey Harkmanm, just thought I'd let you know that it seems like other people are having a similar problem to your issue over in this thread, and a Riot employee is asking for people's logs:

I have a similar problem, it started around yesterday for me. I would crash very early in the game, resulting for me to catch up, after I caught up I would crash again, a lot of the times I crash, middle of team fights.
