With 115 Champions and 116th way, why do we still have only 6 bans in total?

The last time they addressed the issue, they said that there is likely to never be an increase in bans because they like having strong champions available.

And I quote
"Because Froggen would never get Anivia."

That is seriously their reason.
But all they have to do is adopt DOTA style drafting if they add more bans.
It is a 100% better system imo.

And why do those strong champions even exist? Strong = stronger than other heroes = OP. And if something is OP, it needs balancing. And if Riot can't balance them properly, we need more bans imo.

I don't know the exact order, but they do some of their bans before their first picks, and then more bans after each round of picks.

The point of bans are to remove some champs that counter your intended strategy or picks. Banning was never intended to be an OP champ removal tool, Riot believes if they have to increase bans they have failed to balance properly.

Also an increase in bans would more likely stagnate champion picks than increase them because you could ban op champs AND a champ or two that counters your build leaving fewer strategies to counter you.

The Captain's mode system in dota is really awesome. The best part is that every now and then the system changes every now and then to change things up. As of now the system goes like this: (I'll put a 1 or 2 in front of PICK or BAN to differentiate the teams) 1BAN > 2BAN > 1BAN > 2BAN > 1PICK > 2PICK > 2PICK > 1PICK > 1BAN > 2BAN > 1BAN > 2BAN > 1PICK > 2PICK > 1PICK > 2PICK > 1BAN > 2BAN > 1PICK > 2PICK

So you have 5 bans that alternate after some picks. The order of picks becomes a lot more important since you have to reveal some of your strategy knowing that the heroes you want might get banned unlike here it's mostly champions you don't want to play against. It adds a whole new depth to draft pick. One thing you have to realize is that in dota, both bans and picks are chosen by the captain unlike here where only the bans are chosen by the captain, and once the picking stage ends the teams then choose which hero they're going to play based on what's already picked. Plus there is less pressure on picking a hero in regards to time. You have 40 seconds every turn to pick plus this thing called reserve time. Reserve time lasts for a minute and a half and it only counts down after your 40 seconds end. Reserve time does not reset after you make a pick so it allows for at least 5 to 5 and a half minutes of thinking per team and is a lot less rushed then the system here. In professional matches, picking stage usually takes about 8-10 minutes.

There you go, that's the system in a nutshell.
