Riot can make Elo Hell disappear immediately if they simply change one thing:

Remove the V division safety net. It does absolutely nothing at this point except ruin the games of players who would be rising otherwise. There's nothing worse than getting matched with a 30% winrate Silver V as a Bronze 1-3. Nothing worse than getting matched with a Gold V as a mid silver, and it's the same all the way up to diamond and above.

And at Bronze V 0LP? There's your point of absolute no return. Players get stuck in V divisions, completely inexorably, when they end up with 500+ games with a less than 50% winrate, and they just stop caring.

So why make it impossible to drop down to the lower division? What purpose does it serve if it doesn't affect your MMR anyway? Riot, remove this stupid imaginary safety net, all it does is make improvement impossible both for the players stuck in the V divisions and the players trying to fight past them.

Also, why not make it possible to "flunk" ranked? Trolls, frequent AFKers and people who feed huge numbers every game and pull <30% winrate shouldn't play ranked anyway. If you drop out of Bronze V, disable ranked for 30 games, and then let players place back in, clean slate. This would discourage trolls who just want to ruin other peoples ranked experience, and allow players who believe themselves to be 'caught' a chance to start again and redeem their winrate.

Unfortunately the system doesn't work like that unless they just don't play for long enough. But, yeah. Silver V players are regularly worse than Bronze IV players, simply because at least Bronze IV players can keep themselves out of Bronze V. Silver V, well, no going down from there. Some people get placed high and just....THBBBT.

Kind of a pain to see people getting into Silver from some lucky placement matches. Hell, I've seen some outright garbage Gold V players.

But there's no motivation for them to win. They just play. They can't sink any lower so it doesn't matter; 9 times out of 10, the people in my games who are fine with afking, quitting, or just plain feeding are Silver V's because, what does it matter to them? They can't really lose.

Also this isn't much of a petition.

That actually is a sound idea.

I'd also support this idea. Ranked is really not a big deal if you're in the low 30% of players or a troll or whatever. It should be for people who are taking the game seriously.

Wait. You seriously believe that if you're in the bottom 30% of players you shouldn't be allowed to play Ranked? Just because you suck at something doesn't mean you don't take it seriously. Jesus christ, you're either a troll or an idiot, and either way you've done your job rofl.

Having 'bad' players in Ranked should not really be an issue if they are adjusting MMR properly. No matter what skill threshold you set, SOME players are going to be the worst ones in Ranked play.

Someone who gets to, say, Gold V and then just half-asses a couple games a week to stay active will be an issue until their MMR drops enough that they stop being matched with active players. I don't know if they try to make any adjustments for players like this to drop their MMR faster.

Anyway, they're probably not gonna change anything in the middle of the Ranked season. But I'm sure Riot is taking feedback into account for S4.

Being dropped out until the end of the season seems very harsh, but I like the thought of being kicked out and getting another go to be replaced back in. B5 is just a bunch of "mid or afk". So because of this some people will have terrible win ratios with decent K/D/A's provided the 4v5 wasn't to brutal.

Remember you are not matched based upon your standing in the leagues you are matched based on your mmr.

If these players have as you claimed stopped caring and stopped trying their mmr will drop even if their league status does not. Meaning the matchmaking system places them around you skill level.

I think your wrong when it comes to making it more difficult to fight past them. If these players stop caring and stop trying they will drop in mmr whether or not their league status changes.

Loosing their account or facing a time ban comes to mind. If these people really do leave regularly and rage regularly they will be flagged by the tribunal or by leaverbuster, and remember leaving in ranked matches is punished much more severely by leaverbuster than normal games.

If these players care so little, don't try, and are so bad they should be easy to pass up.

There are 4 randoms on your team and 5 on the enemy team if there are so many trolls, flamers, and Silver V players who no longer care it should in fact work to your advantage in the long run they are more likely to end up on the enemy team than on yours.
