!!! Warning !!!

This RP will contain mature and sensitive content, therefore it is advised to NOT join if you belong to the group of unstable people or people who are easily offended.
Therefore if you CANNOT handle very disturbing material, please do not join (possible age restriction 18+)

Namely: Violence and gore; strong language, torture and abuse, very questionable morals and moral decisions.
Also extreme cases will be conveniently censored, for it still having the intended meaning and impact (without the possibility of anyone getting banned from the fora).

You have been warned!

(You can find further commentary at the end of the page along with vital information about the whole RP.)

Premise:

One day a simple message started spreading among the people from an unknown source, but it quickly became known to the whole of Valoran. At first those were nothing but rumours, but some rumours hold truths as people were telling stories of disappearing of one of the big beasts controlling the underground world. At first the tales were very vague, but it didn’t take long and rumours changed to truth as more details rose to the surface.
And soon enough everyone knew that the leader of powerful assassin guild Sin Hearts was gone and lost. Where to? No-one knew, but all knew it was truth for very soon after the first message saw the light of day and darkness of night, people started dying. People seemingly innocent and frail, but those who dwell in the shadows and darkness knew better, for those people were part of the guild’s intelligence network.
Someone was trying to take advantage of this situation, but the question was who. There were few people foolish enough to try attacking the Sin Hearts even in absence of their leader and the other guilds knew that. It wasn’t just the power they feared, but the position they held – the position of balance keepers they represented.

Yet these tales weren’t the only thing the wind carried. There was something else – whispers, whispers in the dark for all those willing to listen. Silent whispers among the thundering crowds, but all those willing would hear the message they bore.
A message was it a simple one, but contained all one would ever need – place, time, promise of great reward and one rule.
Only one simple rule – no moral restrains.

Chapter 1: Meeting/Introduction

The place of the meeting was held in the beautiful and dark city of Noxus in an abandoned building on its outskirts. But no such building exists and never existed, it wasn’t on any map or plan of the city, new or old. And yet the building was there, its design simple and purposeful, looking as if it stood there for decades, judging by the flaked away facade and its overall decrepit look.

The people coming inside would be met by almost complete darkness of the only hall that formed the insides of the building. The hall was poorly illuminated, despite it having many lights placed on its ceiling, but most of them were out.
The lights were forming a circle in the middle of the hall and a path leading to it from the entrance, anywhere else was utter darkness.
The hall was filled with disturbing silence, which broke only silent almost inaudible noises that sounded like moans and cries, but only those with perfect ears could hear them.

There was one thing that caught attention of most present – in the dim light they could see reflections of something like a meat hook on the right far side of the hall.
Some of the people noticed that there were many presences around them, but not single one of them let themselves be known to others. It seems those who summoned the people here, were still waiting for more, for the hour mentioned in the invitation of the whispers was yet to come.

[[ In these brackets I’ll be explaining the more complex/difficult/confusing scenes OOCly, simplifying it a lot, and making it very easy to understand. Let’s begin then, the explanation of these scenes:
The premise is all about why there is anyone summoning meeting of the cruellest people in the Valoran - it all starts making sense later in the introduction. The key points are these:
- ANYONE can join regardless of nationality, city state of origin, religion, race, gender, intelligence, etc.
The only limiting factor is that there shouldn’t be people who have some standards – for example wouldn’t literally stab anyone into back. That however doesn’t mean they can’t show up, it only means they’ll be eliminated from the RP much sooner.
- The introduction is basically only a description of the place – old large building (warehouse more or less) that consists of single poorly lit hall with a meat hook hanging there somewhere and strange noises for those with exceptional hearing (most shouldn’t hear that) + you aren’t alone – there are other NPC participants of the meeting.]]

(( Now let’s move to the typical OOC section. We’ll start with the general RP introduction of what it will be like and the basic concept of the plot.
This RP is designed to be a simple rescue mission RP with a fairly straightforward and simple plot. I expect it to be short RP (less than 50 pages) divided into 4 chapters (thematic units) and heavily combat based.
The reason is that I prefer completed RPs instead of RPs with awesome plot where most people fall off at the very beginning and you never even get to the point where you have the opportunity to actually start the plot itself, essentially ruining the whole thread in the end. ))

(( This is a VERY IMPORTANT PART. The sign-ups will be held ICly = In Character-ly(!!!) Therefore any attempts at signing up OOCly will be ignored right away.
Sign-ups are a chapter on its own as it will contain some fairly important information and stuff which will further select the characters that have already shown up.
So what do I expect of you to do? I expect of you to act completely IC = if your character stumbles across a decision he can’t make and not making it will mean elimination from the RP then you’ll just have to admit your defeat and leave. DEFINITELY not forcing the decision just because you want to remain in the RP))

(( Now to specify what I actually expect from you first posts. The only thing your character knows is that a certain leader has gone missing and that there is a group of people hiring mercenaries for good money, but for unknown reason. You are given only the location and date. How you show up in that place is completely up to you. HOWEVER I'd be grateful to you if you avoided one-liners and posts of this style :" - X pops out of the ground for absolutely no reason - Hi folks! " ))

Quote:
Into quotes I’ll be writing the combat results. This means that unless I strictly say it, NOTHING is a cannon fodder. That however doesn’t mean you won’t be able to one-hit certain enemies.
Also there is a possibility of death – highly UNLIKELY, but I’ll be actively trying to kill you. Death would be permanent and apply EXCLUSIVELY to this THREAD, essentially eliminating you from it.
Also this means that I as a GM will have the power to GODMODE without you having the right to complain. (However unless the situation calls for it, I’ll be trying to stick to the typical Sparring Grounds format of combat)
The level of godmoding may vary from simply making certain attacks hit and damage you up to completely ignoring (=blocking/shrugging off) certain attacks.
(( Another thing about signed-up OCs, I won’t limit their power levels, but I’d prefer for them to have more complex abilities (knowing your limitations, mechanics, etc.) rather than downright god-like powers. This is to prevent something we call ass-pulling = if you face opponent that hard counters you, then you WILL lose, you WON’T pull something out of your ass just because you want to remain in the RP (= understanding of your own character’s powers and being able to admit your defeat).
Power levels of the enemies will be flexible and depending on the OCs signed-up, but the enemies are already designed as they are tied to the story itself (another reason I’d prefer OCs other than god-like beings, unless you know how to handle and balance them for an RP of slightly above moderate power levels )))

(( I will reply to the thread at daily basis at least, but will try to more often if your posts allow me to. I’ll be waiting for everyone’s responses in combat situations, before making results.
On another note. I’d be very happy if more active RPers joined (no offence to anyone else), this means that you are able to post at least once every 24 hours (the minimum). This is for the sake of the thread not getting stuck for any other reason than that a person cannot post more often than once a week.
Let's say that 48 hours are acceptable limit for not posting without mentioning that you'll be AFK ))

(( The amount of OCs is unlimited since I don’t expect too many people to join this or have OC capable of joining this and I believe some won’t make it through the first chapter ))

(( I’ll be trying to update the Original Post each time you encounter a new enemy (making a summary of your knowledge about them) or when a new chapter starts ))

(( Well I hope this is everything. Oh one last thing, I will leave the sign-up period open for 3 days before I post myself and therefore progress the RP ))

(( Also last piece of information some may find useful, even though it's not required for the RP since everything you need will be provided and explain during the first chapter.
A quoatation from another useful thread:
Quote:
-Sin Heart
Sin Heart is essentially a guild of people fed up with the things and the way others treat them, especially with the various nationality alignments.
Consists of assassins and warriors of various kinds, but spies and many people not skilled in fighting as well. They mostly keep low profile, not allowing for their vast net of connections among all the city-states to be discovered. In the end fighters make the smaller portion of the group, but often take commissions from various people.
The guild as a whole focuses on gathering information and assassinations, but sometimes carries out other businesses as well (purely commercial, etc.). It is lead by Éclair Efreet.
EDIT1:
Please link the profiles of the characters you're submitting in your first post. Thank you
Makes it easier for me.

EDIT2: I'll be waiting only 48 hours for everyone's responses in case my post needs a reply from everyone (won't be the case of every single one).
After that point, you are IGNORED (=counted as if you did only insignificant actions like following) and either I'll handle your actions somehow or will be completely omitted from the following post, allowing you to catch up later.

EDIT3: The sign-up phase has been officially ended, moving this into the Closed RP section.

His contacts were alerting him of a disturbance in Noxus. Something was horribly amiss among the guilds in the dark city. Usually such matters were not too important that Phantom would need to interfere, but this time it was different. A guild leader had seemingly disappeared and as soon as the news spread outside of Noxus, mysterious deaths were reported. Someone is taking advantage of the situation it seems. Another thing is at work here and the shadow warrior was going to check it out. Upon entering the outskirts of the city, Phantom found and entered the old building. His shadow senses took hold in the dark hall, and he moves forward only to stand near the center where everyone was. What is going on here was unknown, but Phantom hoped it would lead to the truth behind all of this.

A mysterious black robed figure would walk toward the building with seeming deliberate purpose. His hood would obscure his face, but it was apparent that he knew that something was going on.

As he made his way through the entrance of the building, he noticed someone familiar, "Hello Phantom," he would say, "These are odd occurrences, aren't they? The very feel of this is... off."

The only way to guess that the figure was Karthus was by his voice, for he let no other signs of his presence be known.

Rothus, the self acclaimed "King of Thieves", had heard reports of an underground guild leader had disappeared. Obviously this was bad for business since the guild was quite adept at getting him reliable information. After asking around in the underground, Rothus caught wind of a special operation that could lead to a great reward. Taking a carriage to Noxus, he arrived on the outskirts of the city. Making his way to the meeting place, Rothus was greeted by the darkness of the warehouse. Keeping aware of his surroundings, Rothus continued into the warehouse and into the meeting room. As he entered the room, he found himself a spot on the wall away from any other participants in the room.

(( I wanted to avoid unnecessary OOC, but this time it has to be done.
I'd like to ask you what reason does Karthus have to join this RP, based on what is known? He's a Lich, he has no reason to care about mortal world, especially saving one miserable life and I very much doubt he suffers from the lack of money, which is the driving force to most OC that will be joining, especially due to him being a champ of the League. Also I doubt he'd join this just for the lulz, somehow it doesn't really feels like it fits his personality.
+ How am I supposed to balance your powers in case you provide legitimate reason to be here. I see no way of preventing you from just instant-killing everything in your sight, effectively ruining fun for everyone around you and reducing the RP to less then 2 pages.
( Yes, I did say it'd be short, but I had hoped it'd be a bit longer )
+ Would the League allow something like Karthus to just freely roam around?

So unless you were planning on leaving after the first chapter and you do not provide solutions to most of the problems in question, I'll have to kindly ask you to join with an OC rather than Karthus.
Please do not take this personally or anything, it's just I really wasn't expection a champion to join this (because they have absolutely no reason to). I'd be able to work around most...but Karthus... ))

Seth had heard the stories, multiple times on occasion. Just the other day at a local pub in Piltover, two men had been discussing rumors of an important job, rubbish nonsense they called it. But to Seth, this is exactly what he was looking for, he had been on the road for months now. He couldn't live live off of his money forever, sooner or later he would have to find a new source of income. Now that he had heard it once, it seemed like everywhere he went there were little bits and pieces of the job floating around. Soon enough he had learned that the meeting place was held in an abandoned building on the outskirts of Noxus. Seth traveled to the mysterious old and worn building. He walked around it's circumference trying to find a door. Slowly he opened the door into pitch black darkness, he stepped in and felt the presence of others around him. Pulling his pocket watch out of his pocket, he fiddled with it continuing to open and close it out of bad habit. In case something was to go wrong, he wanted to be prepared.

(( Actually, Karthus could have a variety of reasons for joining, such as information (what else would he be after? He takes no payment for being a champion, and generally shuns people), but definitely not for the money. Not to mention that contrary to all expectation, Karthus took a direct stake in the mortal world by joining the League. As far as his personality is concerned, I can summarize most of what he does (I do) like this: Karthus acts on whims, but those whims take place over decades (possibly centuries). So even though he seemingly acts like he has some greater plan, that is not necessarily the case, but, he could easily have a greater plan that what he lets on to.

The powers concerns is quite a bit more legitimate. I don't see Karthus as much of a fighter, but if anyone attacks him, yeah, the would be dead. Very dead. Possibly worse than dead.(I guess I'll make a Karthus related OC. He does have a whole bunch of undead servants.)

As far as the League letting him run free, Karthus did whatever the hell he wanted before joining the League, and he did nothing notable other than stay in his Marsh. If he did nothing other than chill in his Marsh for such a long time, what makes you think the League believe that would change?

Also, you did say anyone could join in your OP. That kind of got me excited. OMG, A CLOSED RP THAT KARTHUS CAN JOIN! YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!! )))

(( Very well then, fair enough. With this reasoning, there's not much I can say to deny your presence.
However I still need to work around your abilities a bit (which I admit was the main reason). And I hope you could help me with that. Obvious I can't let him have his in-game abilities = magic landmines, laser of death and not even defile. Then I don't see how to nerf necromancy as it's basically staring at someone and instantly killing him by sucking his soul out.
I am fine if you were a summoning necromancer - letting minions fight in your stead or even using some form of spirit attacks that actually harm body instead of soul. Anyway I'd really apprectiate if you wrote down what out-of-game abilities Karthus actually might be capable of using during combat. ))

(( Combat wise, I figured I'd write up an OC (I already have a pretty good idea of what I want this guy to do), and have Karthus do what Karthus does best: chill out. I'll have Karthus ring him up when we actually start fighting. Karthus will still be around, but he'll be sitting back with a margarita watching the fun.

You should be able to work with this. ))

(( If that other OC is going to substitute you in the combat more or less, then all is fine.
BTW: You can talk and interact with other people present during the sing-ups, that is before I progress it, two day from now ))
