Introduction

Quote:
Name: Sion
Title: The Flesh Giant / The Dreadnought / The Undead Monstrosity / The Harvester of Souls.
Role: Melee, Fighter, Jungler

Sion definitely needs some help, so I've taken the initiative to show a potential rework(s) for the champion who made lane roaming popular. I have two kits proposed with lore and quote revisions while keeping true to his core concepts as much as possible.

Tl;Dr Summary

Quote:
Sion is a melee fighter that has the option to specialize as a jungler and aggressive tank. His primary resource is using health to activate his abilities and forgos mana all together.

Ability Kit 1
[Innate] Undying Abomination
(Active): Upon being slain Sion continues to swing his axe around him for a few seconds before dying, moving at reduced movement speed and deals AoE physical damage for a portion of his total AD.

[Q] Mutilation
(Active): Sion empowers his next basic attack to deal bonus physical damage. If this ability is used within 8 seconds the cost and damage increases by 100%, up to 300%.

[W] Death's Caress
(Active): Sion gains bonus attack speed and heals for a portion of his missing health upon taking damage for the duration.

[E] Incensed Fury
(Toggle): Sion empowers himself, gaining bonus AD and tenacity but loses a portion of his current health per second.

[R] Cryptic Gaze
(Passive): When a unit that Sion has vision of is facing him, their movement and attack speeds are reduced for 2 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.

(Active): Sion consumes all stacks up Cryptic Gaze, rooting enemies facing him while slowing those he is not facing. The debuffs decrease by the amount of distance they are from Sion.

Ability Kit 2
[Innate] Undying Abomination
(Passive): Sion ignores his injuries, taking 3 seconds for damage to be applied.

[Q] Mutilation
(Active): Sion empowers his next basic attack to deal bonus physical damage. If this ability is used within 8 seconds the cost and damage increases by 100%, up to 300%.

[W] Death's Caress
(Passive): Sion gains bonus health regen after each basic attack, stacking up to 3 times.

(Active): Sion gains bonus movement speed and attack speed, prolonging the duration for each basic attack performed, up to a cap.

[E] Incensed Fury
(Passive): When Sion kills an enemy, his gains a permanent bonus to his maximum health, this effect is doubled against boss monsters, cannon minions and enemy champions.

(Toggle): Sion empowers himself, gaining bonus AD and tenacity but loses a portion of his current health per second.

[R] Cryptic Gaze
(Channel): Sion begins channeling for 2 seconds, then begins to tug at all nearby enemies as he pulls them in. During this time Sion siphons the closest enemies current health as physical damage, healing himself for the same amount.

General Concept
Quote:
Sion is a melee fighter that consumes his current health to cast abilities. Due to the nature of being an Deadman (undead) Sion is very hard to put down. He is at his best when he is surrounded by multiple enemies and has allies to take advantage of his disruptions.

Compared to other fighters however, he lacks gap closers and must advance using Cryptic Gaze and consuming his health to keep enemies from kiting him. He makes up for this with the sheer amount of health / regen gathered from slaying enemies that champions should be exhausted by the time Sion catches up.

A skilled Sion will always make sure to come out on trading blows with champions with Mutilation and power through burst with Undying Abomination. Should Sion choose to jungle instead, he will remain relatively healthy and have free reign to stack his health and then proceed to lead tower dives on enemy champions.

Sion Lore (Work in progress)

Quote:
The city-states of Noxus and Demacia were at odds long before the creation of the League of Legends, dating back to the Second Rune War. Both powers sought dominion over the other, but Noxus was especially willing to forgo morality for the cause, best shown in its human battering ram, Sion. He would mercilessly slaughter foes with his large double-bladed axe, “Chopper”. His complete disregard for caution ultimately cost him his life, as Sion’s recklessness caused him to be captured and then executed by Demacian forces.

However, there is a saying in Noxus - that death is merely a promotion. A being that currently resides in Noxus’ forgotten allyways, predating Noxus’ and Demacia’s petty squabbles. The Soulborn known as Mordekaiser was bribed into reviving Sion as an undead abomination, a flesh giant. Borom Darkwill had already made a pact with the Spiritbreaker previously - compelled into prolonging the conflict with Demacia so that the Shadow Isles would have a constant stream of souls - all for Darkwill to gain his own necrotic prowess. To revive his most loyal solider Darkwill was coerced into officially forfeiting the expansive underground network beneath Noxus which easily encompassed the Skull Nation many times over in length and population.

Sion was revived as an undying abomination, never able to truly die and became the conclusive symbol of Noxus' stance on integrity. The Dreadnought is forever tasked with slaughtering all of those who oppose his (new?) master’s goals, whatever they may be, as the Abyss worms its way into another outlet of hunger.

"The Abyss Hungers" Sub-Quest Info (Work in progress)

Quote:
Criteria to Unlock
Sion and Garen must be present on the Fields of Justice and on opposite teams. Both champions must be at least level 9 and Sion needs to have slain 60 or more units.

Should Mordekaiser be present on Sion's team the Dreadnought will shout out a different quote upon activation.

Objectives to Complete
Sion must slay 30 additional units and then harvest Garen's soul. Each time Sion is slain he loses half of his soul tally and must work to 30 to be able to receive quest credit for slaying Garen and ultimately finishing the sub quest. If Garen defeats Sion 3 times, Sion fails the sub quest.

The soul tally is considered separate from Sion's creep score and will more than likely be shown as a buff like Thresh's Damnation or Nasus' Siphoning Strike.

Another possibility is showing it on the game screen for all players to see for easy access, but will not be updated to Sion's current count if he is in the Fog of War.

Quest Rewards (In Progress)
Sion Rework 1:
(Passive): When Sion strikes an enemy, he gains health regen equal to 0.15% of his maximum health per second for 3 seconds, which stacks up to 3 times.

Sion Rework 2:
Death's Caress' activation additionally heals Sion for (10 / 11 / 12 / 13 / 14, +5% Missing Health) health when he suffers damage. This effect fades when Death's Caress ends as well.

Garen:
Perseverance's effect persists for 3 seconds after taking damage and the cooldown is reduced by 1 second for each basic attack performed by Garen. The cooldown no longer resets upon suffering further damage, allowing Garen to activate Perseverance in champion / monster combat via basic attacks.

OR

Demacian's Justice's cooldown is reduced by 25% at all ranks.

Trivia
Quote:
- Sion was executed by Garen(?).
- Mordekaiser, the Spiritbreaker, rose Sion as an undead (Hence why Sion and Urgot are so radically different).
- Although Sion is still loyal to Noxus, there are larger powers in play, powers that dwarf even the Master of Metal.
- There will be random quotes spoken to nearby champions while Sion is near them.
- Upon slaying an enemy champion, Sion (or something far more frightening) will directly whisper to the summoner in control of them.

Inspiration

Quote:
Many Spirits Inside Of One
This individual has several malevolent souls residing within them, often fighting for control as a contorted form of demonic possession.

In Sion's case however, there are severalhuman souls trapped within his body as they fuel his powers. This inverses the trope upside down - with the host being evil and containing multiple tortured souls within them.

Monstrous Humanoid
Sion originally started out as a human, but the bursts of violence and constant warfare have taken a toll on his mind - becoming a monster himself. This was finally sealed when he was resurrected into an undead, free to sate his hunger for battle for eternity.

It should be noted that Sion's remaining human features truly paint him as a monster, as he got a thrill out of man-slaughter / carnage / butchery before his transformation.

Blood Knight
A blood knight lives for battle, they do not care about losing or winning, the motives behind the war - they just want a good fight.

Furthermore, they even go as far as to cripple themselves to make the engagement more interesting as well as last longer. A blood knight is also notorious for doing anything possible to enrage their opponent, so that they will take the fight seriously and thus present a proper challenge.

Riot, you have my full permission to use or take whatever pieces of this concept tickle your fancy!

Changelog

8/23/13
I gutted the Innate from one of my older concepts, Bolverk the Gavel Lord (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=40800490#post40800490). In part to the amount of revival passives rapidly released recently and taking a different approach to the term "Undying". I'll leave Sion's old ability here, for future reference and in case Reds decide to nap it instead.

Quote:
766019
[R] OLD Undying Abomination
[Innate] Undying Abomination
Type: Point-Blank Channel (AoE)
Range to Center of AoE: 400 Units
Buff Type: Health / Siphon
Channel Time: 6 Seconds
Cooldown: 240 / 200 / 160 Seconds

Basic Description:
Sion begins to mend his battered body over the next 10 seconds, siphoning 3 / 4 / 5% of the enemies current health as physical damage and heals Sion for the same amount as he regenerates 10% of his maximum health per second. Should Sion survive the channel he is revived with the amount of health regenerated at the end of the channel.

If Sion is slain while this ability is not on cooldown it is immediately activated.

Specific Details:
Sion regenerates 10% of his maximum health per second over 10 seconds. Nearby enemies have 3 / 4 / 5% of their current health siphoned every second as physical damage (40 physical damage minimum) and heals Sion for the same amount, this effect is half effective for minions and monsters. After the channel ends Sion is revived with the amount of life gathered after 10 seconds, should Sion reach 100% health beforehand he is immediately revived. If Sion reaches 0% life during the channel he is slain.

If Sion is slain while this ability is not on cooldown it is immediately activated.

Visual:
Upon taking fatal damage Sion falls to the ground and lands on his hands and knees. During this time his body erupts in a maelstrom of green energy as he begins to roar, siphoning health off of nearby enemies as green streams of lifeforce. If Sion survives the channel he stands back up and shout a quote. Should Sion die instead he falls flat on his face as the aura fades away.

If an enemy is slain during Undying Abomination their entire body is broken down into green energy and flows towards Sion.

Massive changes to both ability kits all around, cutting down on his passives and giving each rework a different flavor.

[R] OLD Cryptic Gaze
Type: Aura (AoE) / Point-Blank Channel (AoE)
Target Type: Ally / Neutral, Enemy
Range: 600 / 800 Units
Debuff Type: Movement Speed, Attack Speed / Root, Slow
Debuff Duration: 2 Seconds / 2.5 Seconds
Cost: None
Cooldown: 60 Seconds

Specific Details:
(Passive): When Sion has vision of a target within 600 units and they are facing him, their movement speed and attack speed is reduced by 10 / 12 / 14 / 16% for 2 seconds, refreshing every second they remain in range.

The debuff reapplies itself every second.

(Active): Upon activation Sion roots all targets facing him that are affected by Cryptic Gaze. If the enemy is facing away from him they are slowed by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% for 2 seconds.

The range of this activation is 800 units.

Visual:
(Passive): Sion’s eyes pulse every second.

I have to say I rather like the idea of his Cryptic Gaze being a passive debuff rather then just a simple targeted stun. I also like the idea of giving him some high damage in return for a massive health cost. You have some nice ideas here but the PBE forum isn't the place to put them, try making a thread in General Discussion if you haven't already.

I have threads here, on the GD and in champion concepts. I place reworks in different forums because different reds frequent different forums. My Olaf rework thread is gathering much more steam here than on GD as well.

Summoners, I am aware of Cryptic Gaze's passive being frightening to a portion of you all.

I am working out a solution to the process, shifting the debuff to apply a flat MS debuff and % AS debuff with a timer before it is able to be reapplied. As well as the channeled active to still root targets facing Sion, but now multiply the MS buff to a % when facing away. The active instantly reapplies Cryptic Gaze.

While being pulled in by his cryptic gaze, can the opponents move? I mean it'd pretty sick if they couldn't because you would be able to add in a Galio and Morgana ult on top of it, making them unmovable for like 6s o.o

Enemies can still move, the Rework #2 of Cryptic Gaze pulls nearby units towards him at a rate of 75 / 100 / 125 units per second. This means a champion with 325 movement speed will be moving 250 / 225 / 200 unit per second away from Sion and when going towards him at a rate of 400 / 425 / 450 units per second.

I'm not sure if I want it to directly add to movement speed or simply make it a gravity well effect, since Hecarim would completely destroy Sion while his ultimate is active.

While the ultimate is active Sion drains the units closest to him for a portion of their current health as physical damage, healing himself for the same amount. I chose this for his reward for keeping enemies close instead of a stun / taunt / root / etc.
