I don't think riot knows what a healer is.

A Riot employee said that if Soraka were released today (recently), that she would have a totally different skillset because of the type of gameplay she promotes. So complaining about her in her current state (or even past) isn't really productive.

soraka is a hare's whisker away from being viable, she just needs to have a better method of casting starcall. make it cast like corki's phosphorous bomb and it'll be much better.

So, what are you saying Morello? You and Riot aren't ''fond'' of healers?

Why even add them to the game mechanics then, if your personal opinion of them is going to influence them towards the nerfageddon?

To be frank, I'm not sure on the history of this, but it's something I want to make better so we can have champions with heals be more satisfying. To fix this, we need to move healing to a more battle-oriented role; some heals have this to an extent, but need numbers love in that direction.

For example, Nidalee's Primal Surge has a significant attack speed buff, but is also a sustainable out-of-combat repair. I want to push these abilities to be priced much more aggressively, making sustain-use costly on the mana bar, and making the associated buffs meaningful in teamfights to both reward smart tactical use and help out attrition in both laning and roaming.

Healers aren't balanced because if one team has on and the other doesn't, the one with the healer wins.

Riot doesn't want to force someone to play a role they don't want to just so their team has a chance of winning.

The same could be said of carries, tanks, and junglers.

This could be the dumbest thing ever posted by a red. And he is the lead champion designer.. Oh no wonder the last couple champions have been fail.

May require more skill than chaining togather R moves to win a teamfight (except Sona).

Fixxed for you Brah.

Edit: My natural inclination towards not being a **** overruled my frustration.

Support in general aren't very satisfying, soraka being the worst, having an ungodly boring skillset. It's not the healing, it's the incredible lack of variety/skill involved.

Janna's shield screws you at least as hard as a heal will, difference being it can't be countered and also blocks ignite. It's like a heal, but better.

Taric is a heavily nerfed buffbot. His stun and ability to provide auras and small, clutch heals is ok, though AP on him is a much better way to go, due to rediculous ratios.

Sona is everything that is wrong with support. She's passive, annoying to fight against, easy to play, and has an R to win button.

Lux is a much better attempt at support, though she's still pretty watered down. We have enough shields with no counter. Heals are nerfed hard.

Morgana is a support who does everything. She can tank, R to win, and even become a carry if fed. Much better, and requires skill, but still, R to win teamfight.

Zilean is the most enjoyable to play of the support, but also underwhelming compared to a janna. His ult takes more skill comparatively. Good Zileans are much, much better than bad ones. However, he isn't a competitive pick, despite being the kind of support you'd prefer.

A healer is a very low tier champ therefore it is not recommended for ranked games.
