Summoner Spells

Ghost: Helps Pantheon stay in range to Spear Shot, run ahead of a stunned enemy to keep attacking them, continue to chase after a Grand Skyfall, etc.

Exhaust: Helps shut down ranged DPS faster.

Ignite: Finishes off enemies, or drops them low enough to proc. HSS.

Cleanse: Against Heavy CC teams. Should be taken in conjunction with Ghost, not in place of.

NOT Flash: Pantheon needs to be in range long enough to wear down the opponent, not the one extra hit that Flash allows you. As far as escape utility goes, Aegis of Zeonia should be enough.


Masteries

1/21/8 - Defense

For fully Defensive tree, points into more dodge, more health, more armor/magic resist, and Tenacity for reduced damage overall. The 8 in Utility goes towards a larger mana pool, and the 1 in Offense is in case you take Improved Exhaust.

OR

13/9/8
- Offense

For a more Offensive tree, points into attack speed, armor penetration, crit. chance, and minion damage, with 9 points in Defense for dodge, and 8 points in Utility for a larger mana pool.

Strategy

Grand Skyfalling:

The best tip to keep in mind when deciding to ult onto an enemy is that the ult can be cancelled, and unless a fight has broken out, there is no penalty aside from an 8 second CD for cancelling your ult.

As Pantheon you should be more than willing to engage a low health, recalling enemy at their tower.

During the drop make sure you use Aegis of Zeonia on the enemy before you land because it will activate immediately when you land, usually even when they are slightly out of range of where you landed.

Feel free to recall if your health gets low during a team fight, only to return a few seconds later into the fight with full health. This strategy is much more effective than taking Revive and willingly dying in order to come back. Revive may seem effective but your still feeding the enemy with your death.

Spear Shotting:
Because Spear Shot+Auto attacks does so much more damage than a full Heartseeker Strike, it is much more effective to Aegis of Zeonia an enemy, then spear shot them and auto attack, followed by a second Spear Shot.

It is also effective when chasing an enemy who is low health to use your stun, then run ahead of them and Spear Shot them while running alongside them until they are low enough to activate HSS's passive.

Heartseeker Strike:
The only really effective uses of the active on Heartseeker Strike are:
A) If Galio or Amumu ulted, and you have a clear shot of 3-4 snared enemies.
B) If you are Exhausted and need to continue to do damage to an enemy

Aegis of Zeonia:
This, when used defensively, is an extremely effective escape tool. It provides a solid 2 second stun at level 5. When being chased by a melee DPS character, simply stunning them, even if they aren't quite in range, will provide you a much greater distance for escape.

It can also be used in order to leap frog off of enemies in order to escape, for instance if enemies are flanking you while you push their tower, you can quickly Aegis the stronger character, or the character with the stun, in order to run quickly in the direction they are coming at you, instead of trying to run past their tower.

This ability has many uses, they become much clearer in practice instead of reading about them.

Honestly, it's just how the builds versatility works. If it were for a pure DPS Pantheon sure that would be the more effective option, but the 9.8% dodge is way more worth it IMO, especially if you end up facing a team of auto-attack heavy players.

The 40% dodge for auto-attack teams on the Phantom Dancer build, plus your passive, makes Pantheon near unkillable to DPS characters

100 armor pen seems like overkill... since pantheon focuses on carries instead of tanks, only about half of that is really needed.

You probly put a hefty dent in towers with this build though.

armor can go negative. And i always have a problem with going last whisper + ghostblade, since the armor pen reduct negates the effect of last whisper.

F.ex: 100 armor on enemy. First go's the -20 armor pen from ghostblade, then the -40% from last whisper, so it's actually a bit less effective that way.

Armor can only go negative if it is through armor reduction alone. Armor penetration can't lower it below 0, and armor reduction is applied first.

I stopped reading at "Manamune". It weakens your early game big time, and that's what you are boss at. I'm running blues and yellows mp5 and going for Brutalizer asap (effectively getting true dmg on non-tanks until midgame).
There's no such thing as DPS Pantheon. Burst burst burst, no time for some dpsing with your surviability. If you want Youmuu's + SotD, get Xin Zhao, much better results.

Masteries are also complete BS. Extra manapool? If you managed to get 2000 mana, the mastery will give you MASSIVE 100 extra mana. Jesus. Defensive tree stops being usefull after Strength of Spirit, which is imba. If you need ArPen, then get offensive otherwise go utility, many actually useful talents there.

P.S.: Flash + stun or Flash + hit with autocrit >>> Exhaust imo, it brings your the kill and stops the runner. Not to mention all the shiz you can escape with Flash.
