I don't know what the command prompt thing is on Mac, but in Windows, you go to Start>Run>cmd

and type:

ping 216.52.241.254 -t

Surfer Ahri's suggestion is the best, since it sounds like you have access to the LoL client through your Mac. Checking your ping via the terminal/network utility tool won't necessarily give you an accurate idea of what your LoL ping will be, since those methods just use small groups of packets to check. If you know what your usual terminal/network util ping is, though, then you can use it to tell if you've got unusually high ping.
