To be clear, you have to first drag and drop the League of Legends application onto the Applications shortcut to copy it to your Applications folder, and then you need to navigate to your applications folder using Finder (its on your sidebar under Favorites), then double click LoL from there to run it. Here's a graphical guide (https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/23294572-Mac-Installation-Guide), and here's a more verbose one (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3222596).

Assuming you've done this correctly, post your system specs (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3222596) and describe the exact situation in more detail. Does the LoL icon bounce on your dock and then nothing happens?

What OS are you running? Click the apple in the upper left and then click About This Mac, and it should tell you the version number.

Drag League of Legends.app from your Applications folder to the Trash (or hit cmd+delete). Reinstall it using the instructions mentioned above. Since you never actually got all the patch data downloaded, there should be no downsides to this.

It looks like you're experiencing a fairly rare bug that usually happens under different circumstances; I've never heard of it happening on a fresh install of the game.

If it still fails to do anything after a fresh install, I'll walk you through finding the crash reports so you can post them here.

The issue you're describing does sound like the UserKernel issue, but I've never heard of it happening with a fresh install. In fact, one of the primary ways to fix the issue is to do a fresh install.

The icon for UserKernel should be exactly what it is for you; In fact, mine is exactly the same file that you have at the moment, and my LoL runs fine.

I suspect there's something else going on here. Here's the part where I ask seemingly random questions hoping to track down the issue.
- Are you an administrator user on your computer?
- Is the filesystem case-sensitive?
- You did reboot at some point during this, right?

In the screenshot you last posted, one of the folders is called RADS. Inside that folder, is there a file called rads_user_kernel.log? If so, attach it to your reply.

Formatting your computer for case-sensitivity is a trap many expert users new to macs fall into. Unfortunately, Adobe products, LoL, and a few other big name products managed to drop the ball when developing their software, and they won't work with case-sensitive filesystems. The LoL developers have been aware of this issue as far back as October 2012, so don't hold your breath on them fixing it anytime soon.

There's no easy way to fix this. Personally I'd just wipe the drive, repartition as a standard filesystem, and reinstall the operating system.

There is a tricky alternative, involving backing up your entire drive, then repartitioning it, then restoring the backup over the new one, but its not for the faint of heart: http://superuser.com/questions/380330/mac-convert-from-case-sensitive-to-case-insensitive-file-system

There's also at least one piece of software (http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iPartition.php) that claims it can do an in-place conversion, but its not free. There may be other alternatives.

One of the LoL developers is in the same boat as you (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3041849), and he just runs the game from an external drive that is partitioned properly. I honestly can't recommend this. Several people on these forums have had major issues patching the game from an external drive. Its also going to be very slow loading games compared to having it installed on your internal SSD.
