### Why did they make Fiora?

I think the fundamental problem with melee carries is that if they have any tank, they're bruisers or fighters. Melee carries exist in DOTA because they get tanky stats for building damage. Glass cannon only works with some range or some sort of invulnerability or full heal and some kind of CC immunity.

Some are specialized, 'Deal X damage to one champ in one rotation' (assassins) or 'survive until tteam fight ends (cleanup)

Fiora is 'deal X until you take Y, then become untargetable for 2 Seconds. if the teamfight is over, clean up'. A fed enough fiora will survive for Y = (team fight length - 2) seconds, then cleans up. She's both a squishy high damage carry that deals as much damage as possible, and then someone who mops up a mostly-completed teamfight. Because her role is split to very start and very end of a teamfight, she rarely does both her jobs.

If a fiora deals enough damage or survives until there's enemies with 1/4 health or less, she's played optimally. And she's terrifying. Everyone else has jobs that only happen at one point in time, or recurring over intervals (start of fight, end, every CD seconds). Hers is both a start and end, so her use is directly tied to teamfigt length.

No. Melee heroes with zero utility and a crappy survivability gimmick on their ulti that need to be protected as much as ranged carries is not a math problem.

In other words, Jax. If all melee carries were like Jax (CC, damage steroid, defense) this wouldn't be a discussion. Instead, the league community arbitrarily assigned "melee carries" as heroes with damage but nothing else.

Basically they wanted an ADC that they could reliably balance. When Yi and Tryndamere are strong they tend to be OP when they're good.

To have an excuse to have a hot French champion.

Okay, sure. It's healthier to dismiss information and throw champions away as trash instead of analyzing them and looking for optimization and where stuff is needed. Hire this man, he's exactly what we need on the relaunch team!

He's right though. Fiora needs a rework because her current kit is an unmitigated mess. She's an all-in, squishy melee champion with no hard CC and no escapes (before someone brings it up Lunge is NOT an escape. Lunge is an engage that, if you're lucky or extremely well-positioned, will give you some chance to get out. It has zero reliability unless you're near an enemy minion and therefore can't be counted as an escape.) Just putting more damage on Fiora or adding some tankiness doesn't fix the problem. If it did, then this would be a math problem. Fiora's problem is one of terrible kit. She's a high-damage champion with no real way to stick to a champion to deal damage. In any trade where CC is a factor she will lose 9/10 times unless she has QSS or MS. Primarily what she needs is an escape, some way to disengage from a fight to make up for being squishy and melee. Without that she's not going to get out of the bottom tier picks.
