Tell your support to play Zyra. She can outharass and outrange Caitlyn early on if played correctly.

By the time Zyra is level 2 a Caitlyn will think twice before trying to harass you.

Lets be honest here if you are of equal skill lets say doublelifts vayne playing doublelifts cait, the cait stomps vayne its how counters work, only other thing to do is hope they take ur tower and ur team is strong enough to hold out 4v5 as they roam lol
Doublelifts vayne would destroy his cait.
Teams ban out his vayne because it's that scary (even if they plan on picking caitlyn themselves)

GOD I freaking hate Caitlyn! She can play so safe with her net and that long range harass. It is basically hopeless at low elo where junglers don't buy pink wards and gank bot. I get the argument she is "useless" end game but I have seen Doublelift carry with Caitlyn so many times. She is not weak end game.

Edit: Yeah I think red elixir start is actually viable against a caitlyn because according to lol counters early aggression counters caitlyn. Too bad red elixir is getting nerfed soon

Hard CC and all-ins, caitlyn is essentially useless with cooldowns early, unless you're fighting her in brush, which is a REALLY bad idea.

Give her the hook, the fist, the wave, or maybe drop a stunbox on her and for gawd sakes don't get hit by Q.

You could also just take a Soraka and outsustain any legit harass.

If you're blue, take golems -every- time they're up.

Anyone that says "have your jungle gank" does not understand how difficult it really is to gank even an overextended Caitlyn if she knows what she's doing.

If she's using her headshot on you every time it's up, treat it like Annie's stun. Her hands glow and it plays a very obvious animation when it comes up.

Every time she goes to farm a CS and your Tumble is up, Tumble and peg her with it. This can get dangerous sometimes, but if you do it right, you'll get minimal retaliation, and you should gain her respect rather quickly.

Learn how to farm effectively under your turret if you can't already. Vayne is actually pretty good at this with Tumble and Condemn, assuming you have around +25 AD from items, runes, and masteries.

If you have similar health, Cleanse, Flash, all of your abilities off CD and enough mana to use them, do not be afraid to all-in her at level 6 (or 7 for the level 4 tumble). That +25 AD and what...60? move speed more than makes up for the range difference, and if you have a hard CC support, she should likely die.

Playing against Caitlyn as Vayne -REALLY- does suck, and you're probably going to at best break even in lane in an even skill match up, but you will romp her late game as long as you manage to get there.

Why would Cait ever be next to a wall against a Vayne matchup, especially when in range of a taric stun.

And if she WAS near a wall vs a vayne with taric/leona trying to cc her, why wouldn't she flash/net away because neither of them have instant cc and she shouldn't be dumb enough to let this happen enough for flash cd to matter.

This is not how counterpicks work.

Counterpicking someone gives you an advantage. It does not mean you automatically win the lane.

The easiest way to describe it is in the way they describe matchups in fighting game terms: when someone has a "good" matchup, it's 6:4 or higher (7:3, 8:2, etc), which means in a theoretical scenario where you play 10 matches and both players are of equal skill and PLAY EQUALLY WELL, the person who the match is in favor of will win 6 (or 7, or 8, etc) and the player in the unfavorable matchup will win 4 (or 3, or 2, etc).

Matchups and counterpicks and their like are in a vacuum though, but not a REAL game. This is where mindgames, outplaying people, situational actions/builds, etc come into play. It could be as simple as hard engaging on someone at level 1 to throw them off balance - if it causes them to play scared the rest of the laning phase (or, alternately, to hard engage unsafely because they think you're dumb), you can win a "counterpicked" matchup.

If this game was so cut and dried as to mean that two players of equal skill playing each other are ENTIRELY dictated by their picks, this game would be the most boring game ever.
