Shouldn't Draven be kind of a mediocre fighter?

He is also the younger brother of Darius. I'm pretty sure combat skill runs in the family.

Because you know like some of the gladiators back in the day weren't some big buffed sweaty men who have seen 400+battles that fought slave/prisoners either.

Combat training/Battle Finesse, you have ample amounts of time to work on your skill/accuracy/techniques when they dont fight back. Same for working out.

But considering how Draven has little means to actually deal with a team or an escape that is proof enough he's only seen one sided matches. He's pretty much an all in carry and if he doesnt get the lead and play smart, that's where we get the 3-14 dravens

That's why he's an AD carry. He gets destroyed by bruisers.

You might have time to work on your skills, but you wouldn't know how to apply them in a real combat situation. As for your comments about Gladiators, most of them died their first fight.

All Noxian citizens must serve in the military at some point, so Draven's at least got some basic training.

While this may only be my interpretation, Draven is a killer first and an entertainer second. Draven's specialty is in killing people. Seems like he would fit in with a group of people whose goal is to kill other people for sport. Is Draven gonna win in a test of straight skill against Jax? No, of course not. Is Jax gonna be wary of flying axes? You betcha.

No ADC does that really well. Possibly Graves, but not really.

Draven hangs back in the group and hits people in the nape of the neck and then takes all the glory. Sounds like Yoloqueue ADC to- um, sounds like Draven to me.
Draven can reliably 1v1 other AD Carries and win. Very few AD Carries can keep up with him.

Vayne's also good at dueling bruisers (although only in lategame)

They needed to add something in his Lore where one of his victims as executioner was some badass Demacian fighter who had gotten captured on purpose to kill Draven, but Draven kicked his ass and killed him anyway. That would give him some credibility as a Champion, as it is he's like a street performing juggler who got into the League for some reason.
