Would knowing your MMR cause you stress?

Why they hide MMR:
http://www.surrenderat20.net/2013/03...and.html#moreS

Many games have moved towards MORE information over the years. The internal data is almost always shown now.

While a matchmaking rating might not be the same as knowing your Quarterback has a 93 Speed rating... It falls under the same heading of known information.

Now, some people love more information, while others are happy being left in the dark. I personally love the numbers and don't believe knowing my MMR would cause any stress at all.

I think that Riot hides the numbers not for our stress, but for there's. Imagine all the scrutiny if people knew their MMR. People would constantly post math claiming the algorithm was bad or how it screwed up.

you can kinda guess it relative to the people you're around in your queue
it's not like people don't know that mmr is the true elo and leagues are just superficial

tbh I've found ranked less stressful since they removed elo

Thanks for posting. Kind of what I figured. Which makes Riots response about people not wanting stress seem silly.

Shows that Riot is playing Mommy State and thinks they know what's best for us. That's why their original campaign for the change was so misleading and vague. Just like every time the government tries to enact unpopular change they need to make it sound good instead of flat out saying "we are going to make ranked more casual and less competitive by implementing a deceptive and less transparent system of many meaningless variables to distract you from the fact that your skill at this game has plateaued. So here's something to waste time 'progressing' without needing to actually get better at the game."

"Ranked games come not too far in the future and include being able to see elo -- in ranked games. We want a sandbox for competitive purists, and we want a separate sandbox for those who want to "play for fun" or "play with less pressure" (normal games). Not everyone wants to play competitively all the time like you and your buddies on sirlin.net " -Zileas

What happened to our pure sand????

They have given up on supporting ranked for the competitive purist. It's now Normal 2.0 to "play for fun" or "play with less pressure". Normals are to "jerk off in" or "play with no pressure".

I think the thing I'd be most interested in seeing is the MMRs of each team in a ranked game. I often was matched up in games where every single person on a team had higher elo.

I don't even mind if one team is stacked (although that does seem kind of stupid if you have a fancy rating algorithm)... If I knew I was against a higher ranked player I personally would try harder. Some people might gve up in those cases, but I'm fine with that too, let the quitters lose and drop down.
