I see a lot of top players are starting a Red pot when they go top lane. It says it gives like 100 health and 10 bonus ad. I was just wondering, does it make your max Hp 100 higher during the duration, or when you pop it does it give you like a heal type thing of just 100 hp right away? Or is it like a health pot where the health is regenerated overtime. Thanks!

On use, it grants you the health meaning if your health is 400 you get 400+ whatever you get from the elixir. Your maximum health goes up and your current health goes up as well. That is why some people get it, you can pretend to be in danger but when you're really low you can drink it and get some free health and trick the other guy.

Red pots give you 150 hp over 10 seconds, the red elixirs (significantly more expensive) is what the other poster is talking about

ELIXIR OF FORTITUDE

You would take this traditionally as a means to increase your hp and ad. However due to the mechanics of the "heal" it's an effective baiting tool.

You see the HP gained from the elixer is not a heal or regeneration of any sort, but a stat booster. Because of this, ignite does NOT reduce it's effectiveness.

It's great for those pesky enemies that always kill you and run off with only 59 gp left.

If you are using it to bait, and not save you from ignite damage, expect that trick to only work once in lane.
