Graceful can be visually appealing, but it has to be done with something else, otherwise it has no substance. Leona: Graceful power. Fiora: Graceful speed. Orianna: Graceful complexity. In fact most female LoL champs have some sort of graceful elements, which isn't mutually exclusive with large breast sizes. I mean Sona is a mute whose sole method of expression is playing a floating instrument, which she does with such skill that it can hurt, heal, and make people dance. Doesn't really get more graceful than that. And also has won Bosom of the Year award every year since her release (with Pentakill Morde coming in second ;P).

Also, Karma's kit doesn't feel graceful, it feels very "raw" and encourages gambits (her kit is practically built around baiting).

I'd argue that Karma's theme is about retribution considering her lore and mechanics. And her name. Maybe I want to see some more emotional grief. She doesn't seem particularly disturbed about her past history. Compared to, say Riven. Or Diana.

It also really doesn't help that her splash art sucks.

And I really don't know why she uses fans. Although fans generally have this problem. They don't really make good weapons. Are they like magic fan wands? Fans usually don't have magic power associated with them. Fans are usually used for mystique and erotic dancing in fantasy, which doesn't really fit Karma, other than they're both generically Asian.

Lastly, reality TV is getting better then some of the books people have started reading. *cough* fifty shades *cough* And don't diss Vi.

Retribution is one end of the scale, but her theme is about balance - there's plenty of substance there beneath the surface. Karma's theme manifests in sophistication - she is an avatar of the Ionian culture of enlightenment. She could be thought of as a compliment to Irelia and a foil to Swain's: she holds great power with her serenity but controls that force of personality rather than using it as a sledgehammer. Leona is a woman of power, but not necessarily of a graceful type - her power is as bright and flashy as it gets. Fiora is pretty much her opposite in every way: she reflects the snobby side of aristocracy and has the depth of a puddle. This isn't dissing every story that doesn't contain depth: Fiora is as shallow as a tablespoon but there's still a good story there. There's going to be people who find Fiora's story engaging, but those won't necessarily be the same who find Karma's engaging (which, to be fair, overlaps with most of the Ionian's: evil nation came to invade and they're rather pissed off over their genocide, repression, and exploitation of the populace.) Vi's story falls in a similar boat as Fiora's, and I'm more than welcome respect that they're artful works while stating they're rather shallow (Vi's did well until they shoved her into Bad Cop, Good Cop with Caitlyn).

Speaking of story, she isn't as torn up over the Ionian War because she's a rather well-adjusted member of society who had to move the hell on and live - Irelia is less torn up than she is and Irelia fought on the front lines. As for your comparisons, Riven has a serious case of PTSD and Diana would be in the same boat if she didn't go in the other direction of Riven when they discovered Evil. Disagree with corruption? Fight it with murder! Riven got mopey and ran off instead. To be fair, watching your comrades blown to bits and melted around you when you hold the concept of warrior strength on a pedestal is rather traumatic, and I don't blame her. Karma spent more of her time dealing with the tactical and political side of war rather than front-line combat.

Oh, and Karma's fans utilize wind magic. Blades in the fans.

Please don't compare trashy romance novels to substantive reading. That Fifty Shades phenomenon is ridiculous: it's like the mainstream culture suddenly discovered that porn for women is okay. (Scandalous!)

Karma has the best walk in the game. Just sayin';

That's not a walk, that's swagger.

If any reds want to answer this question

Is Arcade Sona really still the best selling skin in the game?

if so, is that bad or good news for Sona skins in the future?

Shiny colours, big boobs, and pop culture = money.

The data Morello is referencing is likely from an international champion appeal study that was run by some of our colleagues at Riot. It was a pretty rigorous survey approach to getting a read on how players respond to champions overall. Of course, we also want to capture how a niche champion will do. I'm also one of the folks who likes Karma Not every champion needs to appeal to every player, after all.

We also do more nitty-gritty stuff, like lab testing concepts, art, design, etc.

I like Karma's design/aesthetic, but the main thing holding me back is that there are so many more AWESOME champions I need to save IP for...like Thresh and Diana. '~'

I hate to add to the trend of "Are all the champions getting visual upgrades!?" but I've really been wondering about Kassadin. He's not exactly unpopular, he's a strong champ and has some neat visual themes... but it's extremely obvious how dated he is. His particle effects do some neat things, but are still low quality and his overall model looks like a Rusty Blitzcrank esque recolor of what you'd expect him to be.

We are NOT making her a stripper or ANYTHING CLOSE. I have made EXTRA SURE that visual rework efforts steered away from this trend. We are retaining classy and elegant. There might be a bit more skin but it's going to be damn tasteful.

Thank you. I needed to hear this.

While we're on the subject... are there 'elegant' skins in development for any champions?

I actually like how Karma looks...it's her bad kit that's killing us.

Parrot wants to remake Sejuani in a fully armored Barbarian (see the Sejuani feedback thread). He is currently discussiong her art rework. That's why I brought it up :P He wants to give some female champions more armor when it makes sense with the character's lore and background.

Actually, I rather like how they made Sejuani's appearance tie into her backstory, even if it seems like she's pushing a little too much past the boundary. Makes her feel raw, like a female Udyr in my mind.

Still, I personally think that Riot is significantly better than most other game developers when it comes to female characters. What some other games do is inexcusable. At least Riot's girls are badass or their appearance makes sense in context.

On a side note, IronStylus, how's the Insomniac IronStylus meme going? Seen some good ones.

Is there ever going to be any love for Malzahar, at least a rework on the particles for his Shadow Prince skin? As an avid Malzahar player it pains me to look at his character model :'(
