That's because this game is World of Warcraft of the MOBAs. Most popular, least graphically advanced (at least that I've seen so far).

That's not to say its a bad thing. World of Warcraft beat out EverQuest II precisely because WOW ran great on anyone's machine in 2004, and EQ2 ran like pure ****e even on the highest end hardware available (and I speak from experience, as I was running the highest-end processor / video card combination in November 2004).

I like this.

Its far more visually advanced. The stone looks more like stone.

Now if Riot had a super-high-detail version of SR that I could "toggle" into, that'd really be something.

Wow... I thought no one liked my mod since I got no replies in the first week, but suddenly a lot of comments.

Thank you very much for all the comments .. it makes me happy to do new skins!
I will definitely do new map skins and update here in this thread.


@about the legality of using these:
I don't believe you will have any problems by using it. Since there are other big sites which offer tons of skins (including some map skins). Me and my friends always used custom skins, there is really no problem with it.
Also, the staff can confirm I love to buy lots of Riot skins (if they see my purchases history). So it's not meant to stop people from buying skins, it's just other options the player can use to play in a customized way.

This is a very different direction from the style of the game, I like the color scheme (reminds me of the Harrowing Map mixed with Night Elf colors) but the pixel in pixel detail is a bit harsh for my eyes. Thanks for your comment. And yes I agree completely with you, and I'm trying always to improve and get better on my skins. I already did lots of Champion Skins, a Gankgplank Ship skin for the old 3x3: Twisted Treeline etc.


I will update this thread to reflect some of other skins I did (that is currently in display at my website) and will continue doing new map skins as well.


I did see some fantastic ideas for new map skins in some comments, maybe I will use one of these suggestions and if I do I will put the person who suggested it on the credits.

A heaven-like map would be good. White/gold with ruins and such.

Also your skin looks good although it being HD looks a bit too detailed (sparkly and such) so I prefer to keep environment quality on low. Hopefully player-added map skins will become a trend and supported by Riot in the future.

The guy two below me also gave me an idea. Maybe try recreating Molten Core on SR? The paths would be bridges, walls in the jungle could be pits etc.

I like the idea of a futuristic map. An entirely new setting in general would be awesome. Recolors are cool, but new and different is even cooler : )

New map skin idea: Hellfire Rift.

Molten lava river.
Reskinned jungle mobs, like imps for wolves, harpies for wraiths, minotaurs for golems, etc.
New Baron and Dragon, can't think of anything good at the moment.
Dead trees, dead grass/different grass/patches of demonic growth for brush etc.
Winged towers that shoot fire bolts.

And so on. It'd be cool if you could modify the particles to have a heat effect too. Basically Molten Core without actually being Molten Core.
