Law is supposed to protect the good guys and punish the bad guys, and lawyers are an important part of justice. Why do they speak for the evil and still get paid for?

Because people will do a lot more/worse for money and lawyers get paid pretty well.

Try living on spam one day and then you will understand why people do morally dubious things for cash.
