d3dx9_39.dll Missing

When I try to run the game, I get an error message saying, "The program can't start because d3dx9_39.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I've already tried reinstalling and rebooting. From what I learned from googling this issue, this error usually occurs when DirectX isn't updated; however, I have DirectX 11, according to dxdiag.

It's Windows 8 64-bit btw.

What should I do? Any advice?

Hey Elchulus!

Thank you for bringing this issue to the Help and Support Forum! Encountering a d3dx9 error can cause you to not be able to enter League of Legends whatsoever. Because of this, make sure the follow these steps in hopes of resolving this issue:

First and foremost, I strongly recommend that you ensure that your Drivers for your Graphics Card are completely up to date (and are the latest drivers for your new Windows 8 OS). Follow this guide to help download the latest Drivers for your Graphics Card:

Additionally, this error may also be caused due to lack of the latest Windows Updates. Even though Windows 8 is extremely new, there can be critical updates already released that may cause negative interactions with League of Legends if they are not properly downloaded and installed. Make sure that there are no Updates for your new Operating System by visiting Microsoft's website here:

http://update.microsoft.com

However, if you are still unable to cause this error message to go away, regardless as to completing these steps, then please do not hesitate to let us know by creating a new Support Ticket* so we may work with you one-on-one until arriving at a Full Resolution!
