From talking to people, some have been saying not to use guides and come up with my own builds.
I have been doing ok with guides so far, but have found my own builds work better occasionally?
Is it better to follow guides or your own logic? Or maybe a bit of both?

Guides are good to give you a general idea of your champion's "core build" - that is items they absolutely need to work. Example: Building any AD carries without Infinity Edge is just asking for trouble.

However, a large amount of your build is situational. It depends on what your team and the enemy team is doing, what your team comp is like and what the enemy team comp is like. You would not build magic resist against a team with little or no magic damage. If you see the enemy ADC is fed, you want to prioritize armor first. You aren't going to build a Last Whisper or Void Staff if the enemy is not stacking Armor / Magic Resistance.
