Orianna - blatantly OP or somewhat UP?

Although the data from LOLking isn't perfect - she loses most of her matchups in Mid lane.

Her win rate is just over 47%

She tends to be a priority pick in a lot of teams in tournament play, but tends to lose a great deal in solo queue.

She has extremely high mana costs and fairly high CDs which force her to build an item like a chalice. She has one of the lowest base HPs in the game, is not overly tanky and her AP ratios are fairly average. In order to deal damage, you need to forget about either a tanky item like a RoA or forget about your cooldowns / mana regen by leaving out the chalice.

Most players will do the chalice rush, then a DC.

Combine this with the fact that she is a fairly high skill cap champion to master.

My opinion? She tends to be UP in certain comps which rely on ranged initiation, but when you have a Malphite on your team or some other form of point blank initiation, she becomes extremely OP. The amount of damage you can stack is absolutely insane with a Malphite - you can insta gib a carry or take a lot of tanky characters down to at least half.

Now, this is just my opinion - what if they increase her "bully" ability in lane (perhaps increased base damage or AP ratio boost slightly), but made a nerf to her ball - such as, whenever a champion uses a movement displacement ability (such as Malphite's unstoppable force or Shyvana's Dragon's Descent or flash), the ball disappears off that champ and returns to Orianna.

This would force Orianna to actually get in the fight more often, and not allow for a "free" ult to hit almost their entire team.

Thoughts?

She's balanced.

Why don't people get this?

Slightly underpowered but with enough utility to make up for it.

Her skillcap makes it so that people who can't use the utility will fail while those who execute it perfectly and treat her as she needs to be used will make her seem overpowered.

she has too much utility and damage at the same time, IMO. her slightly negative win rate could be attributed to noobs playing her, she is pretty hard to play. I don't get chalice or tear on her, just build straight AP and I usually never have mana problems. She deserves to be high priority in tourny and competitive play.

She is one of those that you need a team that understands how she works so in solo que doesn't work that well as many dont' understand her abilities and how to position the ball accurately, or teamwork is fairly limited and doesn't use her to her fullest ability. Its common with many champs that require a high skill understanding and for your team to fully understand and synergize appropriately with eachother. You do not find that in solo que very often.

EDIT: and if you think she is OP now..you should have seen her last year....i miss her

Pros pick/ban her because she shines where it matters most at that level: teamfights. You don't get that level of coordination in solo queue. Her win rate is low because she actually requires skill.

ori is fine

she has great laning with her passive for good harass and easy cs, q and w waves clear well, her harass with that also chunks hp heavily

she has up to 50 ar and mr late game with e. combine that with a zhonyas, chalice, and possibly roa plus the shield value of her e, shes a tough opponent to kill

she has good aoe dmg, aoe cc, utility, and still has good sustained dmg

ori is one of the strongest mids right now

She's great in a setting that focuses more on teamwork than individual play. Which is why she's used so much in tourneys.
