@ RIOT why do champion reworks take longer than making a new champ?

iam genuinely curious on why that is.

some reworks take so long but then riot gives out a champion every 2 week,

if its a matter of coming up with new ideas, they are already doing it with the new champs, so what is it that slows the reworking process?

They have to remake them in such a way that they fix the issue that the gameplay issue that the champion was playing while also not removing the gameplay that makes them satisfying for current players of the champion. So the champion has to feel fresh while also not being too different. Also, $.

They have to adjust the skills to be viable in the current environment while still preserving the original essence of the champion. Its basically because they have extra restrictions.

Riot doesn't make a champion in 2 weeks, they've been worked on for months. The reason they come out every 2 weeks is due to them having a period where they worked on multiple champions and then started releasing them.

Basically, when one is barely being sneak peeked, the animations and design of another is also being worked on.

When a rework is needed, they need to stop putting time into the current pipeline of champions and go back and revisit them, which takes up resources. To fulfill the demand, they usually let designers fine tune them until they are comfortable so they don't have to go back to the drawing board everytime or else resources are again wasted.

Pretty sure Guinsoo has been shackled to his desk for the last 6 months with a picture of karma and explict orders from Morello that he isnt allowed to leave until she is good.

In some of the threads where Ironstylus talked about new champion designs, he mentioned a few that they were working on that wouldn't be out for another year or so. They have a huge list of champions they're working on, and some might have over a year in between when they are concepted to when they are released.

Picture this:
Mains of x champion think the champion is weak, demand rework.
X champion is re-released with a completely different feeling kit.
How do you think people would react? GD already gets pretty angry with reworks, and they're pretty well done right now.

They have to figure out how to royally screw it up first. Believe it or not, being proffessionally incompetent is pretty hard and time consuming.
