Your way of doing this fix works great and only takes a few seconds to fix the issue for good. My advice to anyone else that is having this issue is to follow the steps posted by Tru3che. Incase anyone else cant find his post I will repost the steps that he has posted for your convenience.

I had the same problem and all i did was click wait until program resolves and i waited a while and it worked. Now all I need to do is wait for LOL to update. Hopefully it works for you guys that are having this problem. Can't guarantee it will work though but it did for me.

I did exactly as you said and now I may access my league of legends account and play without an issue.
