Anyone know how to fix this? I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 530s, and would REALLY like to play League on it.

Hello Summoner!

Thank you for bringing this issue to the Help and Support Forum! Encounter a Direct3d Error can be an innately confusing error mainly because the main question you are probably asking yourself is, "Direct3d? wat." Typically, this is indicative of an issue with your Drivers for your Graphics Card. Let's try a few steps to hopefully resolve this!

The most common solution is to update your video card drivers.
To confirm that your Video Card Drivers are up to date please use this guide:
http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/20116803-how-to-update-your-video-card-drivers

If this does not correct the issue, there are a few other steps I would like you to try.

Update DirectX:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3

Make sure you are have all available windows updates. You may need to reboot your machine several times to install them all. Return to Windows Update after each reboot until there are no longer any updates to install:
http://update.microsoft.com

If you are still experiencing issues, regardless of the steps provided, then please do not hesitate to let us know by creating a new Support Ticket* so we may work with you one-on-one until arriving at a Full Resolution! If you do submit us a new ticket, make sure you include the following information so we may further investigate this issue:

1) Dxdiag information: http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/20100477-obtaining-a-direct-x-diagnostic-or-dxdiag

* Keep in mind that this advice was given based upon the information provided. If you would appreciate a further one-on-one interaction to solve this issue, make sure to send us a Support Ticket! You can send one from here: https://support.leagueoflegends.com/tickets/new Also, if you could please provide a link to this forum thread in the new ticket, it would be incredibly helpful!

I just reinstalled Windows 7 and got that same error. The first thing I did was install directx 9 which you can find by simply googling "directx 9 download". I installed that, then I went to my computer manufacturer website and downloaded graphics drivers. Hope this helps.

I've also tried everything suggested, still nothing. Any tips on updates for Windows XP? I can't find any information for my graphics card drivers.

An exception is for mac or linux as the graphics card, directx drivers and wndows update install automatically

If youve tried all the options but none of them work, you'll need to download direct3d from the internet; try this free and 100% safe link: http://repairtool.net/b/direct3d.php?c=se&sq=direct3d&kw=+Direct3D&mt=e&ad=7
It should work. If problems persist, try downloading a proper direct3d tool from intel or other manufacturers
