This was just a little story I wanted to get out of my mind. If the results are good enough, I'll write some more.
In a very far away future, when people no longer feared the dark
"Pearl, what's the diagnostic?" - the awnser came fast - "The vortex has now stabilized. Temporal jump ready to engage at your command".
In the middle of a destroyed room, stood a blonde, young man. Although a first look wouldn't show nothing particulary special in this boy, his eyes revealed a very deep mark. What he saw, what he heard, what he lived will scar him forever. His new armor and companion, Pearl, are the trophies he gained from a desperate trip to get home.
"What do you believe you are accomplishing by this, Ezreal? Salvation to your kind? A warning for times to come? You are nothing but a minor setback to us. Even these chains can not cage us for long. An eternity have we waited, and another we will wait, if it is necessary."
But they were not alone. In this room, a figure, as old as time itself, some say, struggled to get out of the chains, specially designed to keep him contained. He floated threateningly, his blades marked with the blood of many men and women. Some of them Ezreal's friends.
"Your arrogance shall be your downfall, monster. I will stop at nothing to end you."
His voice showed no fear for the creature standing in front of him, something not many could claim. Yet, all his courage was recieved not by rage, not by threats, but by a terrifying laugh.
"Auhahahahah. Do you really believe you can stop us? Do you really think you can stop destiny? Your Institute fell by our hands, your companions striked by our blades, and yet you still think you have a chance? You cannot stop destiny, young fool! The end of days draws near, and not you, nor anyone, can stop our ascension."
"Pearl, initiate the time jump." - Ezreal turned his back on the red-eyed creature, as blue light started surronding his body. The figure's struggle intensified, as the chains started to show signs of breaking.
"Know this as you leave. Your end will come. Our blight will take this and all lands. There will be no further meddling. Your kind shall know OBLIVION"
And as the room went dark as night, Ezreal was gone.
"Ez! Ez, are you ok?" The sheriff of Piltover touched Ezreal's arm, and in a blink, he was back to reality, returning from the memory realm - "Uhm? Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?" questioned Jayce "You've been offly quiet this morning. Not to mention your plate is still full."
"If princess over here isn't touching his food, then something is really off." Vi was quick to add. To everyone's surprise, the young man didn't replied to the comment, nor did he try to ignore the Piltover Enforcer. He simply said "Really, there's no need to hurry, I'm fine. Gotta go train for the Tournament" before walking away from the table.
"That boy is into some Delta Sierra, big time." - said Corki, bringing his mug to his mouth.
"He's never been the same since he came back from that trip to the South Wastelands" - replied Caitlyn.
"Not to mention he doesn't want to share any information about how he got the suit, or where. It would be very interesting to find out." In the few chances he had to analyze the suit, Heimerdinger could only figure out that it was far too advanced for this era. The technology behind the Pulsefire series, as Ezreal called it, was simply astonishing.
"Yeah, all he says is that he went to the future, and doesn't know how. You ask me, he is hiding something" shared Jayce.
"Until Ez is ready to talk, all we have is speculations. Now let's get moving, I think we all have battles planned for this evening." Caitlyn and the others got up from the table, and went their separate ways.
Ezreal entered his room, tired of a day spent in the training rooms. With the big tournament tomorrow, and him being one of the first champions to be picked, there was no time to waste. That proved to be extremely exhausting.
Ezreal, how was your day?" He was greeted by Pearl, who created an hologram of herself to make social contact easier.
"Tiring. All I want to do right now is get into bed"
"Very well. Goodnight Ezreal"
Without even taking his clothes off, he dived into his bed, falling asleep almost immediatly.
And as he slept, his mind was haunted about visions of what was to come, promises of eternal nightmares.
