I have had this issue countless times, but I solved it every time.
Go to \LOLPBE\RADS\projects\lol_air_client\releases\0.0.0.xxx\deploy

delete lol.properties and locale.properties. Also delete preferences.
Note: This will delete and reset your settings and properties/preferences in the LoL Client.

Start up the launcher as an admin and wait for it to patch, and it should be fine. If not then just re-download PBE.

same problem microsoft security essentials and the patch always restarts whenever I cancel or when it glitches so it's like an endless loop.

If you are having trouble patching, you can re-patch by doing the following, this deletes the old patch and a few other files and lets you start from a fresh install essentially.
Just follow these directions posted by some kind summoner a while back.....

Yum, first error updating in a while. Big ol' mean box appeared yelling at me. Re-attempting patch.

I get this every time theres a new patch as well. Then I have to start the patcher all over again and it does a complete file check!!
The last error occurred when it was on this file: 0.0.0.140\Archive_65037312.raf
My antivirus program is kaspersky.

Mine was 0.0.0.140\Archive_156520208.raf when it gave me the error.

Zonealarm is my antivirus

Re-patch worked, no need to delete anything. Antivirus is Norton.

everytime i start up PBE it'll go up to 99% then Unspecific Error occur. I just hit "send logs" then "re-open" the launcher BUT it will do like a "full scan" of all the files (?) used in game the second time.

my antivirus is microsoft security essentials. at first i thought it was intended that way, but seeing this makes me aware that it isnt.
