Is there any official Riot explanation on why Zilean was nerfed?

Searching is disable but I did quite a search, couldnt find Any official answer on WHY Zilean, a character not considered OP by ANYONE i know (unlike morg, kog, amumu, garen, Vlad, Ez) is hugely nerfed. Someone has any info about this?

Zilean was fine. I think they nerfed him because it will be easier and more tempting for him to get max cooldown reduction through the two new items they added. That's just a hunch though.

Funny enough Kog winds up getting nerfed that patch since there was a bug to the way his attack speed increase from Caustic Spittle was acting with attack speed items which in turn gave him a higher attack speed than intended.

I dont get the vlad passive bit any1 explain?

also answer to ur zilean question - he saves anyone from 15 seconds and could be like every 2 mins (per team fight) so if ur tanks bout to die or gonna go in - pop ur ult on him and opponents kill the tank and he comes back with almost full hp so they nerfed it a bit

There was no reason to nerf Zilean. All this does is turn an already weak late game hero into a completely obsolete hero. You will virtually stop seeing Zilean or hope you see him against you, since it becomes a 5v4 with one of them getting a free GA once a teamfight.

Riot nerfs everything nowadays. Even Shaco got another nerf this patch, lol (sunfire doesnt work on clone).

They keep listening to those QQ'ers that dont know how to play the game and nerf accordingly.

Kayle and Tyrndamere do not have the spell to reduce cooldown by 10s every 6s

On a 140 second cooldown with 40% CDR his ult has an effective 84 second CD. If he continuously spams Chronoshift that turns into an approximately 34 second CD. That's low enough to negate any cooldowns the enemy blew focusing down your ally and then do it again before those spells are even available again if they used some ults.

With this change his ult will likely be up before but closer to the time that the enemy ults are up.

The change to the duration was likely in the same vein as the changes to Kayle's ult. It's less of a cast and forget and more of a tactical spell now, in theory.

In short, Zilean wasn't OP. The changes are more for adjusting to the changing face of the game than bringing the character in line. His viability has not taken a hit, just some border cases have been eliminated.

Can this really not drop his viability? He was already very underplayed for a reason: he already lacked viability for late game.

I look at every hero respectively. Each hero has an aspect about them which makes them playable and viable. Some heroes have always been both, some needed buffs to reach this status and others have dropped off this list due to nerfs, which I'm afraid will most certainly happen to Zilean.

When you have a hero who AT BEST is viable/balanced and as you said, not OP, why bother nerfing them?
