I keep reading it on forums and seeing it on the champion spotlight. Is it trying to say skill set or something different? And if it is skills why not just say that

Hey Rillic!

That's actually a good question. Alot of players know what "Kit" is but there's no real spot where it is defined.

Kit: The abilities that a champ has. Whether it is their passive, abilities, or innate attack range.

To go a bit deeper, Champions are built with different things. The main ones are Damage, Utility, CC, and Defense. Utility are extra things that typically cannot be classified under the other three: Movement speed, Vision, Traps, etc.

It generally defines a champions entire set of skills and utility. The original meaning comes from the military. Refrencing a solders pack and what is contained inside.

You could look at it as not only the champion, but what is underneath the surface of the champion and their abilities.

For instance Leblanc. Her abilities include a Nuke, a slow/stun, and a blink. When combined with her ult, which allows her to copy her last used moved, it creates an entirely knew combination of moves. Using Mimic creates a FACEMELTING combo of abilities, an extremely unpredictable capability to jump around team fights, and the ability to burst and slow enemies attempting to escape.

This term 'kit' also includes a champions passive ability, the DPS they bring from Auto attacking, the synergy they receive from summoner abilities and items, and where they fit on a team.

'Kit' will also include the base statistics, from the range of a champion (compare a melee champion to Tristana or Caitlyn) to other stats such as Attack Damage or Health.
