what does it do to a stun ability increase the time of the stun?

increase the dmg of a dmg ability?

When you mouse over the ability buttons for a lot champions, it will say

Does X (+Y) damage.

Or something similar. The +Y is in green. When you have ability power, the green number goes up. All abilities that use AP have ratios, however. For example, if an ability's ratio is .5, if you have 100 AP, you will get a 50 damage increase.

Make sense?

It increases the damage of spells that have an Ability Power coefficient.

For example, Nunu's Absolute Zero has a 2.5 Ability Power coefficient So if you have, let say 100 AP, you gain 250 more damage for your Absolute Zero spell.

Not all spells have an Ability Power coefficient though.

Spells can have an added ability power ratio. When they do, and you have ability power, this ratio will be added to that spells damage.

Lets take a look at Ashe's Enchanted Crystal Arrow. It has a 1:1 Ap ratio. So every 1 ap will add 1 magic damage to this spell. It is the same for all spells with added ap(almost all), but with varying ratios.

P.S when a champ has very low ap ratio, and/or one spell with ap bonus, it is generally a bad idea to build for ap. Example, Gangplanks ultimate has a 1:0.2 ap ratio. Every 1 ap will add 0.2 magic damage to each cannon ball. On top of the low ap ratio, this is the only spell he has that applies bonus damage from ap.
