The "worst .2%" are a number that an algorithym chose. It is based on number of reports filed vs number of reports punished if number of reports > x.

Guess what? That means if you say someone was racist, and the majority of people voting in tribunal vote pardon, even if they say the N-word openly, it counts as a "false report".

Riot itself has said that they would be much more strict most of the time in the tribunal than the players are.

See the disconnect here?
The .2% is several, several standard deviations from the norm. As in they took the people that were "toxic" and "reported too much" and only the worst of the worst of the worst of the worst of those were banned. All the cases must have been reviewed in person, not by an algorithm

It was clearly stated that many of these players HAD been temporarily banned by the tribunal before.

.2% of the player base is possibly over 100k players.

And "Many" = not all. many of 100k can be 60k. Which means 40k people had never been banned before. All the cases were not reviewed by a person, other than the tribunal.

It's about punishing people that are toxic, not about some sense of justice for causing unexpected bans.
So what if someone threatens you with report. Riot stated multiple times tribunal is working as intended and you won't be falsely suspended. There is not a single reason to be scared of these reports. They can report others to be toxic and what ? Tribunal is working as intended so they WILL be suspended by TRIBUNAL, while their reports have no impact on system. There was not a single reason to separately punish people that make "toxic reports". This action made more bad than good to the system. Unless its otherwise and my second scenario from previous post is actually correct...

I think we're getting caught up on something here.

.2% of 15 million is 30,000 players, but that's not the amount that Riot banned

"Today, we decided to give a 7-day timeout to players who were the worst 0.2% of players who abused the report feature and had displayed toxic behavior in their recent matches."

0.002 * ( (players who abused the report feature) and (players who had displayed toxic behavior in their recent matches.))"

as in only .2% from the total number of players who are both toxic and abuse report

99.8% of people who were both toxic and abused report didn't have anything bad happen

Yes actually that IS a very good point. But I think you're jumping to the conclusion that Riot is doing this because somehow Tribunal wasn't doing its job or worse, punishing innocent people.

Have you considered that Riot's Ban-Team just ran out of things to do? I mean, sometimes you're "all out of bubble gum"

EDIT: I'm not saying that it's impossible for Riot to be banning innocent people because they're too lazy to look into the incidents. I'm just saying that it borders on conspiracy theory

The likely thing is that riot's tribunal wasn't getting enough people to actually vote and punish/pardon. Therefore the system would struggle to keep up with the reports generated by it's player base.

They could either increase the IP reward for people to judge the tribunal, but this would potentially cost them money. More ip means less people needing to spend a couple bucks for that impulse buy.

Or they could lower the number of reports. The top .2% being removed would remove a lot of reports.

but it backfires when everyone that gets banned creates puppet accounts and then become perma trolls because of all this.

obviously you havn't been reading this forum much, as you would realize they have banned alot of the wrong people.

there's a huge difference between people who go into games looking to screw with people, and others who react to those who do.

So whats the real problem with this game, well they just summed it up when they banned group 2. Hell i seen one quote where they dam near admitted to banning the wrong people, when the guy was talking about this .02% of people and something in regards to reporting in game to well u guessed it the trolls. Trolls are whats wrong with this game, but none of them were banned today.

so for those like u who are blind, in a week your about to see how wrong u are.
